Great Game. Sorry for England but they have out done the previous generations and have gotten far this tournament.

Even if my team went home a while ago, it's been a spectacular World Cup. I cross my fingers and hope Sunday's final is something epic. Fair football and may the best team win.

Too bad tonight’s verdict - but it was a fair match. Shame as would have enjoyed a England - France final.

Southgate has carried himself like a gentleman throughout.

Well played Croatia. England should’ve capitalised on first half dominance with more goals. But across the whole game, the better team won.

People outside England may not realise, but the English public had become very cynical, frustrated and apathetic over many years with a team many felt little or no connection to, which always contained highly paid players who never seemed to be able to perform for country as they did for club and who not infrequently embarrassed the nation with their performances. England haven’t been the best team at this World Cup, but the way the team have played and far exceeded expectations, led by a quality man in Gareth Southgate, has got the public excited about International football and the England team again. It’s not an achievement on a par with winning the trophy, but it’s beyond what most supporters imagined was possible before the tournament started. It’s not an exaggeration to say that the country has been brought together for the past 3 weeks. It bodes well for the future.

Roll on 2022.

Fair play, we lost but not embarrassed. Well done Croatia, looking forward to a good final.

He got his revenge a few moments later, though.

And yes, I thought both teams played a good match, mostly respectful throughout. Croatia had the edge and capitalized on it in the end! English fans should be proud, the team certainly did better than expected at the beginning of the tournament.

Like most Americans, I don’t pay any attention to soccer until the World Cup.But, that’s a good story. Just making to the semi finals with the kind of team/ coach they had full of character...is certainly something to be proud of.

Madzukic the day before the match said, "We've seen that he [Pickford] is doing very well at the World Cup. He has good potential and I'm sure he has a bright future. But I believe someone will find a way to surprise him."

That he did indeed.

I know giving that benefit to a player who just sent your team home is hard to do, but game in and game out Modric has been playing superbly. And when I look at France, I can't isolate one player who has played as well as Modric throughout the entire tournament. So I have to agree with benlee.

I think even within Real's squad, Modric is certainly the best 2-way player for the team and certainly top 5 in the world. Love my Luca!

Tall order to win the final against France !!!
Not certain it will be a blowout but the way France
has capitalized on Belgium Croatia doesn’t stand a
chance...

I'm just hoping for a great game and a lot of beer!
For Croatia it's tremendous to have reached the final. France certainly has the more talented squad. But as they say, the ball is round. Let's see

He will be if he wins the World Cup for his team for sure. He is a very good player that is raising his game further for this tournament.

How a country with only 4 million people can have so many good players. Amazing.

I am so sorry for England. They played so much better, and deserved to have won the game today.

Actually no. They were crappy in the 2nd half. But overall a better performance in this WC compared to past England teams.

This Croatia team has a resilence and never-say-die attitude. Les Blues has more talented and better players but sometimes, attitude and mentality counts for more.

Congrats, Croatia! Great story for the country. England seemed to disappear after half time, with some lapses of concentration and sloppiness. It just felt like that second goal was inevitable.

The Croatia team has a sense of resilience, team play and tenacity that France seemingly lacks... but, France has the better players (if only Mbappé would stop being such a child!).

It will be a fun match and I’m not expecting a blow out by any means.
