Omega deployants can be switched to other straps provided the strap is made for a deployant. I know Omega uses different straps for pin vs deployant. Idk how they're different or if they're interchangeable though.

This - the pin buckle straps have an end to fit the spring bar through. The deployant straps are flat at the end. The deployant can be switched between straps by simply feeding one end through the buckle and picking the hole to anchor to.

Different sizes of parts. Pin buckle strap won't fit properly deployant because it is much shorter.

Yes, both pin/tang buckles and deployant (Omega calls them fold-over clasps) use spring bars to attach to the strap. These are thinner and shorter than the ones used at the case lugs.

I’m perplexed why people keep talking about deployant with the stock straps. As many have stated, The stock straps are too long and would not work. Deployant straps are much shorter than tang straps. Replaced my tang strap on my grey side speedy with factory deployant.

You’ll need to buy a different strap. The OEM strap that looks similar to this is 20 taper to 18 or 19 taper to 16. The stock strap is a 20 taper to 16 so if you want a folding clasp you’ll need to live with less taper or a gap between the lugs.

I wouldn't buy too much into stuff like this.. Sometimes you don't even know if the sale is genuine or if resellers are manipulating the market. There is one on eBay which genuinely looks legit unless someone can correct me. Initial price was £25k, it is now down to £16,995 and still hasn't been sold.

I hope Omega meant it when they said whoever really wants one, will get one.

I know these guys, have bought from them, and negotiated on multiple watches with them. I have no doubt it went for over $30K in less than a day, if they listed it at $36.5k (I agree they probably didn't get full ask). They probably paid ~$25k to get it off a private seller.

I also wouldn't gauge the market based on eBay--too many scammers such that buyers are afraid to push the trigger (and rightly so).

Omega loves this. They are looking for that Rolex/Daytona hype effect to travel down their entire lineup.

It sold for $35,900 in like 12 hours and def was legit

It’s a highly desirable rare piece what’s not to believe in this market?

I agree, I wouldn’t gauge the market based on eBay but I also would gauge it on Chrono24 or a lot of other places. I’ve seen Snoopy 2s listed for £35k-£40k and haven’t moved for months and there’s been plenty Snoopy 3s that probably haven’t moved. My point is there’s a lot of dealers that will manipulate the market with fake sales so they can drive up the price.

OB called today to inform there will only be 250 pieces allocated for US market this year. Mine will most likely be delivered next year (full deposit placed).

Hm, seems awfully low. US market is around 20-25%; that would mean Omega is only producing around 1250 pieces for 2021. That’s 6x less than the Apollo 11 50th which was a numbered limited edition.

Maybe your OB just tempering expectations and will give you a surprise towards the end of the year.

haha I hope they do surprise me. However the 250 pieces allocation for US market this year is consistent with another member's statement in a different thread.

I assume you placed your deposit on launch day or day after?

I can’t imagine Omega would feel great about holding full deposits for over one year. I also thought that was why they closed deposits the day after launch, since it was getting to the point Omega didn’t expect to deliver all the watches within the 1 year timeframe.

I’m not too surprised if the wait is 1 year. But if it becomes 2 years wait with a full deposit....

(Ps i have a full deposit as of launch day)

50% deposit before launch and the balance day after.

OB said they stopped taking deposits shortly after launch per instruction from Omega due to limited production and high interest. They also stopped adding people to wait list.
