Can someone give me the specifics on when the GTG is supposed to take place. It looks like the convention runs for a week. When is everyone planning to meet up; and where?

We could possibly come up on Saturday and Sunday if I know what's happening then.

Okie dokie. I posted some hotels/motels at York on Mike's thread. Do we have an agreement on the date we will meet, and where? And if so, does this include the NAWCC, as I will contact the exec. director. I notice they are holding a bunch of open houses during that week. The National Watch and Clock Museum is worth it, believe me!
Their exhibits and library are awesome! Only a 30 minute drive(max) from York to Columbia, Pa. Let me know your plans! I will post identically at Mike's thread.......
Best,
Dan

Say, I may have an issue here. I received a guest pass from Blaine today (thank you, Blaine ! ), but it says that it is only good for Wed 16th and Thursday 17th. (The WWT&C show) Meanwhile, it appears that the bulk of our members are planning to go on Friday and Saturday, and thus I rearranged to allow a drive out to York on Friday. Is this the general consensus, ie Friday ? If so, I can offer the Wed/Thurs pass to someone who is going on those two days. Conversely I can also switch back to Wed. for the drive out.

...OKAY guys...

...we need to set the DATE time frame of the GTG, list the Motels available with contact info etc and what activities are available on what dates-ALL in one thread so EVERYONE knows what is going on. This way no one has to look at that thread, or that thread, or some other thread for info!

...this needs some FIRM dates and planning NOW...

...Fred and I need to make our lodging accomodations etc!

...otherwise, I fear only a few will be involved in what should/can be a tremendous event.

...we NEED to get the EXCITEMENT generated for this again!!!!!!!!!!

...and, THANKS to Blaine for the tickets!!!!!!!!!!

Stan.

Looking forward to meeting you! Just to advise, that to get into the NAWCC National there's a daily fee to get in, or a comprehensive fee for the whole deal, and you might have to buy a membership, and it can become costly...not sure of the exact numbers, but I'll try and get them for you early next week. Let me know if there's anything I can do to facilitate a meeting time and place as i'm a 'local' ......kinda.

Dam

Why you trouble maker you! Ok. I will (again) at sometime in the 'near' future, post motels, dates of the convention, contact NAWCC exec.Director, and report back.

Me ?? lol Ok, I guess I'll start lol
We were looking at the Hampton inn at York, but it's a little pricey Linkey:

http://hamptoninn.hilton.com/en/hp/h...otel4OneTagSol

But, out of the hotels mentioned by Dan here (I copied and pasted from the "OTHER" thread lol)
2. Motels:
1.Holiday Inn 2000 Loucks road Nearest...to Toyota Center/York Fairgrounds in West York, where NAWCC National is being held. It's 'ok', but nothing to write home about, but a very short drive(10 minutes). Tel 717-755-1966. Not my recommendation, but it is close and convenient.
Room cost is likely to be around $100.00 per night.

2. Country Inn & Suites..not that close, but about 20 minute ride, just off Route I-83
and would be my pick. 245 St. Charles Way, 717-747-5833. My guess is also around $100.00 per night.

3. The Yorktowne Hotel...downtown York, 717-848-1111. Not too far(about 15 minutes), re-modeled, and within walking distance of historic york spots(Lafayette House, Colonial Courthouse) and restaurants(some pretty good ones, too). Downside, is after dark it adjoins some tough neighborhoods. So you need to stay within a confined zone, not unlike many other center cities. Has nice dining facilities. Rooms, maybe $85.00 per night.

$100 a night is probably a good budget for me as of now (we'll be checking in later on Wed. night, and checking out on Saturday morning).
We haven't booked anything as of yet, still interested in what/where u guys would be more likely to stay.
We can always rent a Winnebago LOL

Excellent. It's only maybe 3.5-4 hours for me depending on T'pike traffic, so pretty much any time and any place is OK by me. If possible, I was going to stop in Chambersburg for a hot-dog, but that's very flexible.
We'll make this happen !

Ok. There are two dates I would like to firm up:

1. Our Get together(the formal one).......which day? Time?
at a restaurant? If a restaurant, the best restaurant would be The Left Bank.
But Expensive, but as good as any high-end restaurant in Manhattan($30.00 per person plus drinks, estimated). If a more moderate price tag is desired, let's try Maewyn's, Irish Pub and Bar, or "White Rose Bar & Grill.

2. Tour of National Watch and Clock Museum: Which date(s) are preferred, and morning or afternoon? Or do you want to do this on your own? After I get feedback(hopefully very soon), I will call the exec. director to see what's available for a tour. This place is pretty amazing, and it is east of York, and about a 35 minute ride by car. If we did this, we could go to lunch in Marietta nearby, or at my friend's restaurant, El Serrano, which is pretty amazing in its own right(23,000 sq. feet with a courtyard and fountains, great food).

Let me know!
Thanks,
dan

I can be there any time on Friday the 18th. Restaurant choice makes no diff' to me. Price irrelevant.

ok. well, you and I have just set the restaurant as The Left Bank.
I need to know how many are coming and what day and time? Friday or Saturday??
(I think TRF members want to get on to the show EARLY each day...maybe lunch or dinner?)

next, anyone want to go to National Watch and Clock Museum, or should this be on an individual basis?

best,
Dan

The Left Banke ? Great one-hit wonder " Walk Away Rene " This free associating will come in handy some day. I just don't know how much longer I have to wait.

For me, it will have to be Friday, can't stay overnight.

Do we want afternoon or evening at the Left Bank Restaurant in York?

http://leftbankyork.com/

I'm thinking people will go on their own if they want to the Nat'l Watch and Clock Museum? There are, after all, many open houses available; the place IS amazing and I recommend it highly to anyone coming to the NAWCC National.

Dan

The Left Bank sounds great !
A night dinner would be great IMO.
We will be arriving (along with Fred and Stan as well) on Wed. night, and are staying until Saturday AM.
