Steve;

I have read through the entire thread as long-time irregular visitor to this forum with not many posts, and I'd missed this until yesterday.
Thank you for your storytelling, and I'm sorry for your loss.

This thread and your life as told made me think of the quote below, one of my favourites:

"All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds awake to find that it was vanity; But the dreamers of day are dangerous men. That they may act their dreams with open eyes to make it possible." T. E. Lawrence

I bought my first 'adventure watch' in 1999 an Omega Seamaster 300, followed by a 16600 in 2006, they are both impacted by half a lifetime of activities and are still going strong; Borneo, Pakistan, Central Africa (Rwenzori 'The Mountains of the Moon'), French & NZ Alps, Dartmoor, Peak & Lake Districts, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowdon, lots of the Australia 'bush', plenty of dives etc, etc.
My childhood heroes were Dr Michael Stroud, Ran Fiennes, Sir Francis Younghusband, Eric Shipton, and they shaped a lot of my travels and adventures.
But, I reckon you are well up there and an inspiration to us all, so cheers to may more watches on adventures

There are 62 pages on this thread. Do you think it would go on this long w/o pics?

Steve, thanks so much for sharing all the stories, pictures of the expeditions and the watches.
Took me a while but it was a real pleasure.
I am very impressed by your job and your collection.
If I may, how did you end up having this job?
Cheers!

Steve, after reading this thread awhile back I bought your book. I recently got around to reading it while on a trip. It was a very emotional and well written love story, that is relatable to many who’ve suffered great loss on our journey through life. While your adventures were formidable, what you undertook at home was even a greater challenge, both physically and mentally. I wish you continued peace and comfort knowing you’re carrying on a great legacy. Happy holidays.

And….if you’re one of those that believes that Rolex has now become nothing more than $£€ object things, this thread is for you.
