Dahntahn is no prob', or even Station Square, but you'll be paying dearly for the room. Last I heard we were doing the Saturday dinner on Mt Washington, so staying close might be to your advantage. If you're flying in, you may also want to stay close to the airport, say Robinson Township off the Parkway West.

Don't hold your breath. Men's Wearhouse was a pretty big step. That and DSW all in one day. You can imagine the exhaustion from one's first time.

Yah....I'm thinkin' Station Sq. The Sheraton there ain't too fancy, and it's in the middle of everything.....and if I get 'tipsy' I can ride the incline back down!

Hey Doug I'm not from SE Michigan, but East Central Indiana. A road trip might be something I would want to do if I am not to far out of your way.

6-17-2011 is a Friday. Is anyone hanging around to do anything on Saturday or is just dinner Friday night?

Friday AND Saturday, Bill.

Waiting to shore up plans. Thinking Vincent's Pizza Friday evening.

Henne Jewelers, a Rolex AD, is hosting our GTG on saturday.

Hearing rumors of a Mt. Washington dinner on Saturday eve.

I used to work in the Hotel biz at the Sheraton and other Starwood Inc. properties in town so if you guys want me to look into a group rate deal at either the Westin or Sheraton let me know.

I may be able to swing a good rate depending on events and occupancy that weekend.

Looking forward to Henne's. They are good people there and its a family business thats been there for a long time and always a Rolex AD for as long as I can remember. Maybe their watchmaker could humor us and show us some of his tools of the trade and techniques. That would be very cool.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

P.S. Right across from Henne's is the best Thai food in Pittsburgh call the Thai Place. Dont miss out if you like Thai food!!

If you can swing it ( a nicely discounted room rate, that is), I really think The Sheraton Station Square is the best bet for ease of accomodation and enjoying the 'burgh experience. Heck, if enough of our people stay in one spot, I can rent a van to get people to various points of interest that can haul at least 15 WISs.

Let me or Craig know what you think you can swing. Figure at least 10 rooms, maybe 20 depending on the # of committals that start trickiling in. Henne's is a great AD, but I should warn people: parking in the Shadyside section of the city is a dicey proposition even under the best conditions. Henne's does not have it's own lot.

Just a FYI that there is a pay to park garage right next to Henne's. I am not sure how big it is though...

I will look into the hotel rooms and post what I find out...

WOOT!

208 cars...Parking garage in Shadyside (link):

Another metered lot one block away behind Pamela's and Prantl's, also.

THAT'S where I usually park my big truck while working there.

Bill, I notice you live in RI (the state next to me ! :) ).

If you'd like to follow us down (I'll be leaving on Thursday around 11AMish, figure we'd get there by 8:30-9PM ish.), and we are staying until Saturday.

Good times ahead !!

There is metered street parking of course, GFL finding that. In the surrounding residential areas, there is street parking for free, with a 2-hr limit for non-residents. That rule is rarely if ever enforced. I believe that carpooling is going to be in order. The alternative would be to find a suburban AD. Three of them to my knowledge. I do like the idea of keeping things close though. The ' burgh can be a challenge for foreigners to find their way around.

lol foreigners you are right though, our roads can be downright confusing!

Well the other really nice and really cool AD that I have known since I was 16 is Moses Jewelers in Butler, PA and Cranberry, PA. They usually have a nice assortment of Rolex et al.

Just a FYI, but that is not too close to downtown etc. so they may no work out.

I should also point out that Orr's Jeweler and Casa d'oro Jewelers is local for those that want to look at Fortis, Omega etc. (although Henne has many nice Omega)

Never been to Moses, but Casa D'oro is fantastic. They have some preowned Rollies that they take on trade, but also carry UN, Frank Muller, B an R, Mont Blanc (I think) and one of my faves, Romain Jerome (1 of only 5 ADs in the US). Anybody wantin' a side-trip there, I'm in !

Just NEED to add that Henne's is expecting us, I believe.

Talked with Chad and he has us on his calender.

Just like the ADs at the other GTGs, Henne's is planning on us and will "feed and water" us.

I am impressed with their vast selection of Rolex. They have everything from AirKing and Cellini to the Master Piece line. Omega and Glaschutte, too, and a few other brands!

Sorry if I jumped the gun, but I find their Rolex selection had to beat.

Naw...Henne's it is, Craigster. We'll deal with the transpo issues and parking, no sweat. You and me, Seth, and even SteelerFan if he wants,....let's get a mini going in the next two months and decide on the GTG dinner venue. This may mean a little trip up the mountain on the MacArdle.

Sorry for the slow response, I was going to post and forgot.Anyway, after looking at a map, you're just too far west to make it a go. Basically I'll go Detroit, Toledo, Columbus. then into 'burg.

Yes, Harry from Cali, Doc and myself.

Joking aside, we really haven't started THAT yet, but the TRF'rs in this thread have made a few soft commitments.

Is it time to start The List ?

Rob, Do you think it would be prudent to start it in a separate thread? (I do.)

Probably a good Idea Craig....
I'd wait a little longer yet though as most of the pertinent info is here and it may just get sidetracked if you do it now!?!?

We would like to make this an annual event to rival our good friends in Louisville. (To that end we want to make sure we grab the Wrist Shot crown from last year's record-holder in L'ville.) I think Pittsburgh in June and Louisville in July can become the two must-attends for the NE each Summer season.
