Wanted a watch that no one would give a second look unless they knew watches - this fit the bill perfectly. Snowflake dial is special but tough to capture with an iPhone. Love the finishing and the titanium bracelet is super light and comfortable. The price wasn't the issue, but it does call the question on what incrementally I have gotten for 3-20+ times the price from Switzerland and Germany.

Save yourself a ton of money and from the stupidly long service time by getting this GS instead of the Calatrava. Superb quality. Flies under the radar. Chances are if an observer knows what a Patek is, he or she would know what a Grand Seiko is.
I love the eggshell glossy dial (can anyone confirm if it is enamel) and the polished Dauphine hands, as well as the long curvy lugs. |

It isn’t enamel or even Urushi lacquer – if it were, Seiko would draw attention to that fact, like their Presage limited edition chronographs, and the Credor Eichi.
The SBGR061 has just a fairly regular dial, as far as Seiko is concerned. |

I love that watch. The case and the lack of bezel on mine ultimately won me over, but the snowflake is just special. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pictures don't do these justice. Wearing my hi beat GMT today, stealth, until you look close. Just exudes quality and craftsmanship.

My friend show me his GS watches yesterday and have to say irl the case and dial finishing is very impressive. What stands out for me is the polishing espdcially. But I am wondering if the bright finishing will fade over time or prolong use. Any long time GS owners can throw some light on this?

Slightly, but ever so gradually. Part of a GS service is to refinish, should the customer want it, and it is returned to it's original beautiful condition. Though in my humble opinion the case takes on a slightly different beauty when it is aged slightly. The polish is less spectacular, but it still looks stunning. The finish on the dial, hands and markers last practically forever though |

I love my Grand Seikos, I would say the SBGX053 has my all time favorite dial, yes even more than my Snowflake. Reluctantly I'm going to put it for sale ONLY because I have had all the different movement varieties for GS (quartz, auto, spring drive) except for Hi-Beat so I would like to try one of those.
