to take a guess, i'd say its a new larger composite material multifunction model. good tie-in with F1 and where Zenith went under rolexes new CEO.
should be interesting... |

I can hear it now at Rolex marketing...hey we have all of these DSSD's we can't sell, any ideas. Oh yes, let's change the dial to blue and put out a big marketing campaign. Then they will sell.
Lol. Still same watch that doesn't sell a lot. Kinda stupid if you ask me (assuming this hype is true). Very strange for Rolex to announce something mid year. Looking forward to whatever it is....well maybe. |

I don't really know what to think. None of this makes a lot of sense. A DSSD with a blue bezel and dial? Does this mean that it will be WG? What would a WG DSSD cost? $50,000? $60,000? How much would it weigh?
Certainly, some of them would sell. There were those here who would have bought a Deep Sea Challenge if Rolex had marketed it. What would be the cost of one of those? $500,000. A million? I remember how confused we were with the teasers for the Cellini Time, etc. There's no doubt about it, though. Blue does seem to be a prominent theme and it will correspond with the debut of Cameron's 3D film. Well, whatever it is, it is certain that I probably won't be able to afford it, besides the fact that I'm sick to death of the big watch craze, whether it's Rolex or an Invicta. Let's hope that with an odd watch launch in August and a new CEO from Zenith, a new era of over the top watches from Rolex has not begun.

I'm the Rolex specialist for the AD where I work and this thread is the first I've heard about a new watch. I like the idea of Rolex releasing something new about mid-way between Basel shows.
I have a hard time believing they would make a DeepSea in anything other than 904L. |

I've texted my buddy that owns a A D in South Carolina and no reply yet. I mean it is 2 am and I'm sure he's asleep. Where I should be. Lmao. Can't wait. Hopefully it's not just a new website. That would suck.

ADs don't know.
They might get notified tomorrow, but then again, maybe not.

If it's in WG or platinum, it would weigh a ton.
If it's in WG or platinum, and in limited edition, it would cost a ton. |

I wondered about this myself.
Not sure if it would be a production version of that actual watch (interesting but doubtful) or a 'Deepsea Challenge' version of the DSSD - perhaps as a LE/SE. Rolex don't usually do LEs, and rarely SEs, but perhaps this will change with the new boss.

Probably needs to be in sunburst blue to differentiate it more from the Smurf.

It will be interesting to see what shade of blue they use if it is going to be a blue dial DSSD. Either way, I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 20 minutes reading this thread.
