I just got one....I can't understand how it's a pilot watch...looking for the second time zone hand requires concentration and is not intuitive. The markers blends in with the hour indicators on the dial and sadly the 5524 and 5164 knock spots off it purely from a functional perspective. I have both so I am objective but no doubt fan boys will shoot me down!! Cheers

Also the bezel moves easily so on one occasion I was out by 3 hours

Probably because the GMT has its roots in a steel everymans watch whereas the Pateks have always been HH.

That said have to agree Pateks GMT execution is fantastic in its simplicity.

Here is a photo from today's NYC Grand Exhibition.

It would be nice to try it on the wrist, although I won't be able to make it to my AD's dinner reception. However at 42mm, it probably wears similar to the 5524G, except it will be a thinner movement and case.

I feel like the lighting isn't doing it any favors. I recall thinking the 5524 was meh until I saw real life shots outdoors.

I'm glad PP is doing this, and I am glad so many people are taken to the watch.

I still prefer the 5524, but I also own one ;)

I think I also prefer the 5524 but wouldn't mind having the 5522.

Excellent! Only $21,547 and the first thing needing done is additional money spent on putting it on a proper colour strap.

After a 5270 and 5131 enamel, one would wonder what would do it for you after those...

For those that "got one", how do you guys know if you got the piece?

I spoke to my AD and the manager told me that he would send out an e-mail to Patek and that he would try to order one for me, but nothing more than that.

I believe that I was the first one to reach out to my AD, but since there are no guarantees, I am wondering how long it will take for me to find out if I "got" the piece or not.

Thanks in advance!

You only way I will know I 'got one' is when it's in my hand.

Until then I'm not counting on anything.

So I'm having dinner with my AD and he said he will get me one from his allocation. 600 watches, roughly 70 or so ads so each will get between 5-10 pieces for allocation. Supposedly each AD is bringing their best clients here to NYC- luckily I got invited and according to him the 5522 is sort of a gift to those that came- giving them an opportunity to buy a reasonably priced limited piece. I couldn't pass it up when I saw it was 42mm.

But as Tex stated. I'll only know I got it when I actually get it.

Similar story for me - heading in for the tour/lunch next week and my AD was like if you want one of these I'll get you one of these. Feel like it's one of those pieces I'll like a lot in person - so many PP's don't photograph well.
