I don't have to boycott Rolex, there are no watches anywhere for me to buy at MSRP from an AD. Seems like Rolex boycotted me and tons of other people first.

I read the Rolex statement, this thread, still do not understand why you cannot get the Rolex you want like you could five years ago. Make and sell more watches. Isn’t that win win?

Spoken like a proper politician: "Rules for thee, but not for me".

"Everyone should boycott Rolex, I'm done with them, they're horrible, yada yada yada"

then: I'm going to keep just the one Rolex because I can't quite stomach a full boycott for me, but y'all should go ahead and do that thing I can't quite do myself. Hypocrite much?

You're sure going to show them!

TLDR version: I'm "ALMOST" going to completely sorta partially kind of boycott Rolex - so you should fully boycott them!

So many people think production is normal. I am not convinced given it seems every AD in the world is without stock of even the slower moving TT pieces in this market. The question is where are all the watches. And no, they are not on-line as that market enjoys the crazy after market price markups precisely because there are no watches and their supply is very limited also.

Well I ain't boycotting. I'm buying 3 watches in the next 3 years. At least 1, likely 2 grey.
Could end up being all 3 if they do a tap dance on getting a simple Champagne Romans DD. A lot of us are in no mood for tap dances.
I think I speak for a TON of people with waaaaay more money than me.

I think the OP meant by not buying a new Rolex.

I don’t think he suggested that we get rid of the ones that we have.

Please!!! Boycott!!! Maybe then I will be able to own a Daytona someday. Totally ok with limits on purchases. 2 a year is fair. Let’s allow others the joy of purchasing a Rolex at retail. Rule will definitely limit the flippers out there. If you need more than 2 a year, then try exploring other brands. There are many fine ones out there. If that does not work… then not sure what to tell you.

I can't boycott Rolex, that would require having a Rolex watch that I could buy, and then I refused to buy it.

But I really like that Omega.

LOL. It's just a watch brand afterall. It's their global marketing that brainwashes your brain into thinking you must own one.

Tons of other better brands/watches out there rather than being obsessed with just Rolex.

Sounds like your friend's AD is doing the right thing. I greatly appreciate and respect Rolex for cracking down and laying out policy that:
1. Helps prevent or limit flipping behavior.
2. Creates an environment where there is more equitable distribution of limited stock to their clientele.

I'm sorry to say this, but a Rolex timepiece should be special. These should have a meaning to them, marking an occasion, celebrating a milestone, lasting a lifetime, and serving as a beautiful, exceptional heirloom piece. Not something you hoard and throw dozens of them into a box that you put in a bank/safe/bunker/panic-room.

Maybe it's time to start hoarding something else.

Or, maybe your friend can move to Omega. You can add 20 of those watches to your online cart and check-out from their website, no problem.
This 100%. well said. If all ADs did this (or were forced to by Rolex) then a lot of the threads in TRF would be obsolete overnight.

Why 1 person buy many watches.
He only use just few at a time.

If he want to buy for friends, let his friends come to buy by themselves.

Flippers of new watch is just a profit markup middleman. If flippers can get watch from abroad at lower price and sell to customer lower than MSRP, it is benefit of flippers.

However I prefer to buy from AD and own the first hand full price, than buy at discount from someone unauthorised.

If your boycott project make Rolex AD seriously select real users and apply ROLEX strick new rules.
I support your boycott project because it will eliminate flippers.

I don’t see the point of boycotting purchasing at MSRP. Out of principle, I do not plan to buy a Rolex that has been flipped.

how exactly is it a boycott of the brand if you sold one Rolex and are wearing another?

And did you sell that piece at MSRP or was it acceptable to allow the market to determine the price in that instance?
