Missed opportunity for Rolex. Old one was perfect.

Sorry but I have a hard time seeing differences between them besides the indicies.

Same. Just like pretty much everyone else on the planet, present company excluded...

would AD create another waitlist and would new model creates "more" new availability?

Nice photos.

The changes all make sense to me and add up to a better package (IMHO of course).

This is a classic Rolex move. Slight changes. Nothing revolutionary in my book. From a distance, the two models are indistinguishable, but the Rolex nerds like us will go crazy debating the merits.

I think the only "real" big change in the Rolex lineup is the display casebacks. Never did I think Rolex would do that.

Not a fan of the Daytona but prefer the new one - cleaner, more legible.

At first glance, the only change I don't like about the new version are the thicker crown guards.

I like the new Daytona case (larger with feet like PM on OF models)

I do not like the "dagger" hour markers

I do not like the ring around the monoblock cerachrome bezel

I like the idea of a new movement, but with so many improvements, why didn't power reserve increase?

Nothing else really changed.

Missed opportunities:
- should have included mini-Glide lock
- should have included quick release bracelet
- should have included something different in terms of dial options
- should have been true Panda and reverse Panda, not just same rings

They did it with the Rolex Prince. A rectangular watch with see through caseback.

Today I order it in 2 different store: one told me about the existing list that they have to decide what to do if to merge or whatever. The second one didn’t said anything. At the end I set target for my retirement so I have time.

Curious to know how reliable the 4131 movement is in comparison to the 4130.

While I am not head over heels for this new model, just an honest question: How do you then improve on an icon? Anything they did that was "modern" was not going to be as good as the current model either.

They went the safe route, tweaked the case and dial etc. not changing too much. It is an evolution, not a revolution. Kind of like a 911

There are Pros and Cons to new Daytona

Pros:

Thinner subdial rings
Thinner indices
Better movement (in theory - specs are same)

Cons:

Metal ring around ceramic bezel
Subdial numbers not being centered in rings
Boxier case

I think a lot of the guys who paid 40K for the previous model are going to be seriously pissed off.

I prefer older iteration. I don't really like the outer steel ring on the new version. Even though it's a 40mm, it appears larger than the previous one.

Older version is “bolder” looking.

Newer version is more dressy on the dial/bezel, but thicker lugs and crown guards are more of a tool watch feature: so a bit of a mixed bag.

When you look at the 126500 from the side, it is a much different looking watch (in my opinion). Check out this Youtube in the beginning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGt_3YUC7wg
