So... putting on my 'reporter hat', I called Swatch USA. Very informative and friendly btw. He said they're awaiting "guidance" from Switzerland one way or another. He seemed quite knowledgeable as also asked about the old Carousel Ltd Ed piece and he was familiar. His guess... like other 51 it won't be repairable.

My GUESS, like my fave Body & Soul, the way the case is sealed means SOL. In addition, we have to ask ourselves what would the cost of a movement swap be including labor (and shipping). Movement may be $75, one hour for the work @ $75. I'm lowballing a bit, but $150 might be a big ask for the Switch crowd. Realistically, call it $250 to service provided the case can maintain WP rating.

Does the case back even look openable AND re-sealable for waterproofness? Can someone take hi-res pics of the back and the back at an angle? Re-sealability might be the problem.

Wasn’t even looking for one (the days I was they sold out) happen to walk by and sure enough they had the last Atlantic. Apparently it’s the hardest to find and ironically the one I wanted. Cheers

Omega just dropped the new harvest moon moonswatch, so I think lines might still be a b!t$& but for the Blancpain pieces I think you could have a shot. I imagine they’ll limit everyone to one moonswatch or BP per day to deter flippers a bit so since lots of people will be after the new moonswatch there’s a chance.

Let us know if you score one!! I really want to get an Indian Ocean model for a pool watch, but my closest Swatch boutique is San Francisco (a city I used to love to visit) and with how badly the city has deteriorated I’m not sure if I want to go stand in line in the street for hours for one.

Toronto sounds like a way better place to stand in line

thanks and good to know! will keep an eye out!

Oddly enough I'll be in Hawaii next month and see Swatch store there also. i was going through ebay listings and read in a sellers description that they had purchased the BP from Swatch Honolul.

Will report back

While I am a fan of the MoonSwatch and have the Moon/Mercury/Jupiter/Neptune, I find the Blancpain collaboration leave me flat.

Not only are the watches boring/uninspired, they are too expensive for what you get.

For only a few extra bucks, a Baltic Aquascape is a much more exciting diver.

The new black sunburst release is cool!! I really want one of those and a green one for travel watches. Green for the beach / by the pool and black for dinners.

Just wish I lived closer to a swatch store.

I really like this upcoming one as well, however at this price I'm very hesitant to buy a watch whose movement can't be fixed. I don't want to initiate a price discussion though. From the looks, I love what I see.

For sure; they do come with a 2 year warranty so the movement can’t be “fixed” but replaced if there is a problem. For the price if it makes it a few years and then craps out I personally wouldn’t feel it’s a great loss, but I do see your point about not being able to service it.

Got this strap from Wristbuddy, direct from Sweden in just four days. I'm not a NATO strap fan and this rubber strap is an almost perfect match. It includes tiny allen wrenches to remove the Swatch "springbar" plus an extra set of bars with normal flathead ends. I reused the standard ones.

I read it in a different way, he said if something comes up during the warranty period they will replace it, I am sure he meant the whole watch since the cases seems to be hermetically sealed.

I don’t buy into hype watches but I’m considering buying the all-black Ocean of Storms as a beater watch, it’s the only one in the line-up that’s not in-your-face.

Blancpain x Swatch

I picked up a Blancpain x Swatch OCEAN OF STORMS Fifty Fathoms on release day. First "ceramic and bio-sourced material" branded Swatch watch for me. I like the simplicity and feel like it will be a nice travel watch. Ordered a Horus Graphite rubber strap for it and looking forward to having it delivered, putting it on and wearing it. Don't really care for the strap it came with as it is bulky when folded over and cant's see the exhibition case back.

A reader on Hodinkee reported that it is indeed serviceable. He was quoted $200 by Swatch for his other Sistem51 watch and they said these are the same. Once the 2 year warranty period is over, if anything happens you take it back to Swatch and they issue a quote. The watch is sent back to the factory in Switzerland where they open the case to either repair or just replace the movement. They seal it back up and you get the watch back.
