That is not a mod, but a genuine Rolex issue. If I remember correcty, it was made for a Comex diver by Rolex. Its James Dowlings picture, he sold it with confirming papers

Tony, so it took you 10 hours to brush the center links?

Looks great, BTW

My Modified GMT

Hello All,

Just got my Rolex back from my watchmaker and I thought I'd share my modified Rolex.

I purchased a Coke GMT from George Abrahams, Trusted Reseller, earlier this year. (I can't say enough good things about the service and help that George gave me.)

While I liked the watch I have been partial to white dial watches most of my life and so I decided that the black dial had to go and while we were at it so did that pesky cyclops eye.

I'm really happy with the new look and the best part is that the money I have been saving to buy an Explorer II can no go towards a Daytona, the only other Rolex that intrigues me.

Hope you find the photos as enjoyable as I do the watch.

I bought all replacement Rolex parts and kept the original parts so if I ever resell the watch or need to send it to Rolex I can return it to original condition. BTW, for those that are interested my watchmaker soaked the crystal in some solvent for less than two hours and was able to remove the magnifier with his thumbnail.

I'm not that daring, the best I can do is a No Date Sub on composite strap.

Hey MJM800,

Nice watch, I looked for a no date before I bought the Coke GMT. The nice thing about a lot of the mods you see here are that all they don't require any modifications to the watch that can't be easily undone.

I would never have made any modifications to my GMT if I couldn't reverse them for a few dollars.

I love the no date, non-COSC Sub that big clean dial was what clinched it for me.

I too would never make any mods that cannot be easily undone. However, I do love the red second hand on the SD and I wish Rolex had done that. The red against the black dial is stunning.

Nice watch, I really like the look of the brushed case against the matte bezel ring. That's a watch that I could wear.

I brushed my entire Daytona including bezel except for sides of case. I am not sure yet how I feel about it. I brushed an extra bezel so as not to ruin my stock one.
