I think this things is gorgeous. I don't think it's even arguable to say the movement finishing is miles better than what you find in a nautilus or a royal oak, and the intricacy of the case design is pretty impressive too IMO.

Typical ALS, I am sure it is over engineered and well made, but lacks elegance for me, especially that bracelet. I don’t like Notilus/Aquanot, but can’t say I like this one either.
If I had to pick a high end SS sports watch out of all these, including the Chopard, APs, VC overseas and what not, I guess I would go with Notilus, not because I think it is better made (I am not including second hand value discussion here, just strictly the watch itself) but it is more unique looking compared to the rest. VC Overseas would be my second choice, and then AP RO. I will probably even take Bulgari over the Lange, sorry ALS. |

Yeesh. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but that was definitely not what I was expecting. I'll stay in my lane and focused on an 1815 chronograph instead.

They should have put it on a (rubber) strap and with a lumen type dial.

Movement is simple but looks great in typical Lange fashion. Dial texture is very nice but dont like the day/date layout. Should have just done the date at the lower 12 o'clock spot and used more sporty/balanced dial layout. Bracelet/lugs are pretty bad and make it a big NO for me. Really they should have done a Zritwerk dial on a better bracelet.

I like the fact that it clearly retained the ALS DNA, similar to the 1815, but a more sporty version. Nice movement. I think it is a very nice watch overall.

Anyway - I think the bracelet could be better but perhaps they wanted to keep it looking different than other SS sport watches |

Bracelet is horrible and kinda looks like seiko 5, citizen etc. Even then 28k for the watch is ungodly. This will definitely sell at a discount. Anyone that likes lange would probably prefer a gold lange 1 thats iconic instead of a 28k steel watch. Only reason patek and AP can sell steel pieces for those prices is resell value. Lange doesn’t have the same resell value.

Ungainly. Terrible looking bracelet. They couldn’t decide on lugs or not so split the difference. Unsupportable price. Weak effort overall. I honestly had high hopes but even without any bias this is awful.

My initial thoughts:
What I love: - Movement and back of the watch looks absolutely incredible - Easy extension seems to be very well done - Dial texture and color looks extremely nice, especially in videos What I didnt love: - Bracelet. The transition from case to bracelet is anything but smooth and seamless, and I am sad that they didnt do a "real" integrated bracelet which could be swapped to another OEM rubber strap like VC. - Bezel is a little too "round" to be a sportswatch, and looks dressy - Not a fan of the day complication, and just a big date like the Saxonia Date would look better in my humble opinion. I dont hate it though. - Price! I admit the wristshots look pretty nice though, but overall I am a little disappointed. At least it will save me 28k |

I find it near impossible this will be a waitlist piece down the road. Time will tell. Last but not least, what is it with the awful names? Code 1159 takes the cake but odysseus?

Geeze, what a train wreck of a watch. Already looks outdated.

Would have been a home run if they took the approach that this would be an entry level lange for people that like the brand but dont have the cash. If it was like 10k-15k they would be selling like crazy and would probably get people into the brand to later buy their higher end pieces like 1815 chrono etc

No Day window and center seconds would have been better from my POV - essentially a Richard Lange with water resistance, date and automatic movement. I associate day-date with Rolex and small seconds with dress watches. Single texture dial would also have been my preference.
I am a big Lange fan but not for this sports watch. |

I suspect it will look much better in person.
That said, it's not for me. I though there was a certain snob appeal that Lange only made PM non-sports watches. Now, they're just like all the others. : ( |

I’m torn. I think it’s a watch that you need to see in person. I would love this to have an interchangeable bracelet with the option for rubber. I think that would look amazing. Not sold in the current bracelet.

Would have preferred a black dial but the blue isn't bad. Knowing that for virtually any Lange the pics never do the piece justice, Im sure once on the wrist I will probably end up wanting one.
