Today I picked up these two G-Shocks, a DW9052 and a GW6900. Cheers, Bill P.

After looking at a bunch of G-Shocks, I settled on the same one, Randy. It's very comfortable on the wrist. The only problem is that you can barely hear the alarms, unlike my Omega X-33, where you can hear the alarm 3 blocks away. Otherwise, it's got all the functions I could want, plus it's got an analog dial.
Here's a pic of mine. ![]() ![]()

After years of avoiding wearing a watch whilst engaging in many various outdoor pursuits, or not really getting stuck in due to fear of damaging an expensive timepiece, I decided to pick up a do-anything, go-anywhere, don't-care-if-it-gets-battered workhorse
Ladies & Gentlemen I proudly present to you "The Muddie" P1160128.jpg It feels great, really light & comfortable. P1160125.jpg Now I can't wait to show it some abuse ![]() Sorry for the poor pics...done in a hurry at work!! |

i have two cheapie beaters, an orange acrylic armitron on a silicon strap, and a g shock. out of the two id say without a doubt that the g shock is way more rugged.

Gotta give this a bump, I wear a 9052 and Dad wears a 7900... G's are great for the money, true tool watches!

Great for sporting activities. I have never felt comfortable using a mechanical watch even for golfing.

It would appear the strap is the weak link in the durability department. Are OEM replacement bands easily available and how easy are they to put on?
Also, I didn't see many pics with aftermarket straps. Is there not much availability for straps (rubber, nylon, etc.) that fit the G-Shock in the after market? I'm seriously considering one but I don't want to buy a higher end model if a replacement strap is not easy to get as I've had issues with the longevity of rubber/plastic straps. They usually end up breaking where they crease at the buckle. For $100 I'd get a lower end model and just consider it disposable, but not for $400+. Thanks!

I have one G shock, its the solar atomic model with the altimeter. I wear it when I go hiking or some times skiing. I have no fear in it breaking or getting lost. For what I paid, it was worth 5 times the price. My rolex' and Breitlings are awesome, but if I know I am going some place where it may get beat up, (like working on the truck) I will throw on the G shock.

Bought two over the holiday .. (I wished I could use the same sentense when I talk about Rolex, LOL)
DW5600SN I really like it. I am a fan of 5600 style and the blue dial give this one a little more character. Goes very well for blue jeans :) ![]() GD100MS I like the "mil look" of it, and I think this one the best out of the GD100 series. ![]()

No one has any feedback on the availability of OEM replacement or aftermarket straps?

Straps are easy enough to pick up, I've seen plenty on ebay for under £20. They're really easy to change, too. Couple of screws and you're good to go. I would advocate getting a lower-end G if you plan on using it as a true tool watch; I cannot reccommend the Mudman range enough. ![]() |
