Poll: Will you wear Apollo 11 50th SS?

I can’t decide...

Store untouched, wear sparingly and avoid touching the cork strap, or just plow on in.

I don't have one and am not but I would wear it. That is why I don't buy commemorative's because I would want to just stuff them in a safe.

What is more important? The future value or the memories? And who's to say it will increase in value? For argument's sake let's say 15 years from now it's worth $15K, is that worth it? Your money, your watch, your call. I passed on this reference but I wear everything.

I plan on wearing mine.

I buy watches that I like and want to wear. I don't buy them as an investment.

Is this a watch forum for WIS? I can’t tell anymore...

Why would you buy a watch you don't wear?

Well, I've given up one of my favorite, regular wear watches - the Moon watch - to afford this watch. So, once I get it, I'm planning on wearing it.

This. I don’t get it. I always thought the pleasure was derived from wearing the things.

I’m on the list for one. If I like it when I see it, I will buy it. If not, I’ll pass and let someone else have one at retail.

Well since it is not an investment I have no idea what you will do.

If you bought this as an investment I think you’re going to be disappointed.

“Investment” isn’t the right word. I mean not wearing. Call it what you will. Passion is not expressed solely by having to put every watch you own into rotation. Nor does that define WIS.

Think of folks who collect coins, stamps, LEGO sets, even watches. They love ‘em even if they don’t get use out of them. Coins sit in plastic covers.

I like a lot of the LEs, but don’t want to accumulate all of them, and think about what to do with LE no 28 when I like LE no 33 a lot more.

As there are Apollo 50th watches already being flipped, there must be some folks who see the possibility of selling later and plan accordingly. So I’m curious how folks are thinking about it. Hence the poll.

I'd wear it and enjoy it. In a million years I wouldn't have guessed people would be asking 24k for that white dialed Snoopy Speedmaster, so my opinion is worth nothing.

Aren’t there approx 7000 of them
Out there? I don’t think this is an “investment” piece. Wear it and enjoy , or sell now when it’s hyped and maybe worth its most . My 2 cents.

Agree. Not saying it’s impossible the watch won’t appreciate with time, but with 7000 pieces the supply/demand ratio is probably not similar to a Rolex Daytona/AP 15202/panerai bronzo/etc. Furthermore with Omega they’ll probably release a 60th and 75th anniversary LE as well. If you want to save it because you’re saving it for a special occasion by all means store it, but if you want to wear it I wouldn’t hold back.

I passed on the opportunity to get one from my local Boutique when they were announced. But if I had gotten one of course I would wear it. I don’t buy watches to be safe queens.
BTW, dropped into my Boutique on Thursday to visit. They are having an event tonight at the store and their first three clients who ordered one will receive it tonight. Sadly I cannot attend.
