eBay Rolex Screwdriver (Official Geneva?) from Hong Kong Mini Review

So when I bought my Sub, the AD sized the bracelet for me and didn't replace the Loctite on the screws. Recently a friend got a new watch and needed the size adjusted and had to go to an AD to do it, since I didn't have a screwdriver that I could guarantee wouldn't mar the screw heads. Anyway, I figured it was time to invest in one.

The official Rolex 2100 tool seems very difficult to come by these days, and if I did see one for sale the price was pretty ridiculous. This was probably the most helpful thread on screwdrivers:

The "gold one" they talk about and like seems to be the Official Geneva screwdriver from watch-tool.de. However, the website wasn't letting me order it... I guess they don't ship to the USA.

Searching eBay for "Rolex 2100" yields an identical looking screwdriver that ships from Hong Kong sold by watchmehk. I decided for $77 I'd take a chance and see how it worked out. Well the screwdriver was delivered in just over a week and the quality seems very good. Despite the green color, it has the same exact markings as the Official Geneva one, so I'm guessing it is the same.

While I have nothing to compare it to, it does seem to fit the oyster bracelet screws just about perfectly, and the wide barrel gives a decent amount of torque. So I'm hoping this is helpful to anyone looking for a good Rolex hollow ground screwdriver.

I tried to purchase one from the Toronto, Ontario Canada RSC. They offered to do whatever bracelet link adjustments for free but couldn’t sell me a 2100. Even though I had my SD on me.

That is a great looking tool.

However, it looks nothing like the 2100 tool that is not really a true watchmakers tool. It is the small driver supplied with early Sea Dwellers and long out of production.

Thanks for posting. I can use different screw drivers to get the done but this model looks a perfect fit for it considering honed shape of the screws driver

the screwdriver come with Panerai, just like 2100

The 2100 is a perfect fit but the grip is a bit on the small side when there is Loctite in the fight.

Pan has a stubby disc of a screwdriver that looks like a mushroom. That'll be great design for max leverage.

What is the correct loctite glue to use? I believe there are different colours signifying different strenghts. Which is the weakest? Cheers

Loctite 221 or 222 purple is what you want. It is the weakest strength and what is recommended for the small threads on the pins. But apply the Loctite to the female thread in the link rather than the pin with a toothpick or needle. If you put it on the pin you can spread it around the tunnel in the link as you seat the pin.

One of them dries slightly harder than the other. One takes a slightly louder grunt to loosen. Sorry not sure which is which. Just buy the one you can find.

DO NOT buy red or blue Locktite. You will be swearing instead of grunting to loosen those versions.
