11'--8"

Here's a YouTube channel of nothing but ten years of trucks crashing into an overpass with an abundantly identified height of 11 feet 8 inches, nicknamed the CanOpener.

It's sad and fascinating all at the same time.

No viewer discretion advisories needed.

Their youtube channel is oddly entertaining! It is funny how some people's solution is to continue to drive forward, just slower.

At least he/she slowed down and didn't try to blow through it.

I had a driver do that with one of my trucks. Years ago.

It was a horrible day for us all.

I can imagine

I drove box trucks for two different jobs during my work life.

Either of my bosses at the time would have shot me dead, if I'd done something like this.

At least that overpass is parallel to the roadway. In Brooklyn, on the Belt Parkway, the overpasses are curved with less clearance in both the left and right hand lanes and commercial vehicles are not allowed. But, somehow they still make their way on to the Parkway with the same sad result.

At 1:08, at first I thought he was trying to flee.

On my commute route in 2006, a truck carrying an 18-foot excavator on the freeway hit a pedestrian overpass just before rush hour (and apparently hit 3 overpass sign lights prior to that). It sent concrete tumbling onto the freeway, and shifted the overpass on its pillars. The resulting traffic jam was the worst in state history, and went pretty much around the entire island.

Yeah... I can imagine Seth...

I drove Semi's for almost 10 years and one of the
first thing that a professional driver should learn
is TO READ ALL ROAD SIGNS !!!!

This is one of the worst things drivers can
do when driving a commercial vehicle ...
Bridge Clearance signs are usually posted from a
distance and are able to be avoided if one would
just READ the SIGNS!!!

I found this channel a few months ago. Hilarious. lol. I love the ones that actually stop and think, "Hmmm if I go slow, I'll fit."

I clicked in here expecting that to be the height of the Xmas tree you're buying (I had one that tall a few years ago), thread delivers in a much better way.

Amazing !! The insurance companies should club together and fund the bridge to get raised by a foot or two.

Wonder what it takes to raise a rail bridge like that. I guess a pretty length in either direction would have to be gradually raised with it.
