Air King 116900
How many 116900 owners and what are your thoughts on this watch?

Haven't owned one but I'd imagine if this is your first time trying to get into Rolex, it's a great starter piece and holds its value pretty well. I would think better than most others. Look at eBay prices.

I don't have one, but tried it on and it is beautiful IMO. It's polarizing as some guys really do t like it, but if it speaks to you go for it! I really like it.

It isn't my taste. To me it lacks that opulent feel I get from other Rolex models.

Price is getting close to a DJ 41mm.
I would spend a little more money and have a date on the watch. I do love the green and black colors together. Very easy to read. |

Personally I feel the watch is too small for a pilot watch. It would be great at 42/44 mm. Bolder numbers twice the size , lettering as well . Also a seconds marker ring much like a Zenith vintage pilot. And possibly a heavy duty leather strap.

The Rolex Air-King pays tribute to the pioneers of flight and the Oyster’s role in the epic story of aviation. With its 40mm case in 904L steel, solid-link Oyster bracelet with Oysterclasp, and distinctive black dial, the new Air-King is as functional as it is timeless. Updated for the modern wearer but keeping with the aesthetics of the 1950s model, the new Oyster Perpetual Air-King perpetuates the aeronautical heritage of the original Rolex Oyster.

116900 is very young in my opinion. I picked it because I thought it’s suitable for my age (late 20s) owning a first Rolex. The subs are way too common, it seems like everybody owns one nowadays. I don’t follow the crowd.

I just recently acquired one. The quality is incredible - IMO Rolex didn't/doesn't skimp on that, even though this watch is at the lower price range of their entire product offering.
It's so different to handle/wear it in person vs. looking at zoomed in / macro pictures. It wears so comfortable. I like it because it likely isn't a common/popular 1st choice for people who think of or are looking to obtain a Rolex. |

I absolutely love mine. It’s my daily beater and it stands up to the task incredibly.
