Recently Sold my Patek 5146 and Held onto the Journe CS, to me the Journe CS is a higher end watch, that I enjoy more, and the size of it works better for me. In terms of service, the brand isn't goin anywhere, recently a large group took an ownership steak in the company, and they will continue the supporting the company into the future. Will it last another 100 years? who cares, but there are always talented people who will see the opportunity to service the hundreds of Millions of dollars worth of Journe watches that are already in the market if the for some crazy reason service is no longer available. |

Damn this thread I still need a journe. I keep pushing it off because I fade dress watches but I want one so bad.

Thanks for bringing the thread out. Good read on Paul’s rationale.
Watch some how to me is an emotional purchase. I have a 5146, CS could well be my next one... I like both. |

Journe is my choice.
I own a Patek Calatrava. I appreciate the simplicity. Same for the Journe CS. Not so much for the Patek calendar shown.

Looks like Journe is still the favourite between these two.

Very timely. I have that same 5146 (my favorite) and I'm on the verge of getting a Journe. I'm considering the Octa Automatique Lune in platinum, as I like moon phases, rather than the CS.
I read the entire thread just now and really appreciate all of the information posted here. Glad it got brought to the top. |

It ticks a lot of boxes. I am still struggling between the two watches One minute, I think that I have decided and then I either read, or see a photo of the other piece and I am back to square one!!!!!!! Sadly, I can only have one of them The CS is a stunning looking watch on all levels, yet simple and does what a watch is supposed to do. And being a manual wind, having the PR indicator with its unique working is a great plus. The 5146J has always been a favourite, has several useful complications, which include having lime hands & batons. Comes fitted with a deployant and is the perfect size for me.

Well this question is driving me crazy!!!
Last week I may the decision and went my head and bought the 5146J. As we know it is a super complication watch made and finished by one of the top 5 manufacturer's in the world - IMO. I should add that I have got 14 days in which to return it, also they have a 3 month old CS Rose Gold in stock. Unfortunately, I have not been able to compare them, as the company is several hours away. However, I just can't get the Journe out of my head or should that be my heart I am thinking long term here, as for 30 years I have always ended up flipping my watches for the next one!! Having just turned 60, I want to stop this and be happy with my lot. And let's face it, when you retire, who needs to know the date etc? To me there is something magical about the CS, that and the fact, as I get older so will my eyesight and to me the CS has the perfect combination to be able to read the time at anytime - apart from night. I showed my partner the two watches and she said the Patek. So am I being crazy letting my heart possibly rule my head and in fact is she right. Should I just be happy with the 5146J which in itself is a classic and beautiful watch? I am hoping that whatever I choose it will be my last watch............yes I know!!!!!! So, can the CS be worn every day and will the 40mm watch fit a 6 ¾ wrist ok? Thank you for your patience. Tony

At this price point and for buying it as a keeper I really think you need to try the CS on.... both are great. For my wrist (6.75”), the 40mm CS wears a tad large - the 5146 will be more comfortable as a daily IMO. Also if you value a date, then PP. for pure instant legibility of the time, I agree the CS wins. Tough choice ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

At lower price range mostly FPJ over Patek. At grande complication both brands have models that are desireable.

Previously I did have the Calendrier, which because of the curve and short lugs fitted my wrist ok.

For me, the Journe is much more classic-looking and beautiful, whereas that Patek is a bit charmless and I don't think its design will age well. You seem less than enthusiastic about the 5146 even though it's brand new, which is usually an infatuation phase. Everything here says "return the uninspiring Patek while you still can and get the watch you really want." Quote:

This is what I decided on.
The blue colour of the hands can be difficult to catch and often look black. I have got a new strap coming which I hope will compliment the rose gold. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I went for it. The moon phase is off but I can't find any info if there's a "no touch" time range on the moon phase like the 5146 Patek. Not addressed in online manual and waiting to hear from my AD before adjusting. I'll get it roughed in for now and go for perfectly centered during the next full moon.
My first good watch with a tang buckle. Scary, especially with new (stiff) leather strap. It feels great on the wrist but does wear "larger" than the 5146. |

With nothing in the manual and likewise online, I’d say it’s safe to presume with the date changeover being instantaneous, that you would be safe to adjust the moon phase any time from early morning to early evening – much like the date (and moon combined) when turning the crown the opposite way. |
