How is it possible to remove the plastic strap from the SKX007?
Is there a trick to it?
I just about broke my spring bar tool trying to get the stiff plastic strap off without success.

The green nato is lot more comfortable but I think I made a mistake getting dark green instead of the lighter olive green
Does it matter if I didn't use the extra thick Seiko springbars?

I took the thick OEM springbars out of my Turtle, too, as they were to "clicky". I'm sure it's not a problem.

I just took my SKX007 to Seiko and I wont get it back until 28 May.....the Seiko service centre asked me to get a chapter ring/dial alignment.

Seiko watchmaker was very sympathetic, amazing so we'll see how it comes back. It was weird, the alignment of the chapter ring at 12 O'Clock was a little towards 11 O'Clock and the tick mark of the chapter ring at 6 O'Clock as a little towards 7 O'Clock but it looks spot on for both 3 O'Clock and 9 O'Clock so my only explanation is there was a misprint/spacing error on the chapter ring....

Adam this has happened on 4 of my SRP's. The reason why is the watch has drilled lugs that have a 1.2mm diameter hole. The stock Seiko fat bars are 1.1mm. That is why at toxicnatos I carry some spring bars called SRP's, they work perfectly and are nice and snug.

The SKX uses the same super reliable strap that has been produce for years. Since the SKX isn't being made in the Prospex line yet I think the models we are still buying are of the older generation. The strap is made of a more plastic feel to it. You can put it in coffee cup with boiling water and form the strap to fit your wrist better. But they truly never break in.

The stock Seiko Fat Bars suck trying to remove them. I did a video showing the reason why they are so tough to remove.

Thanks, I'm supposed to be getting my SKX007 back from Seiko Service Centre today with a hopefully re-aligned dial/chapter ring.

I think that the dial and/or chapter ring must have had an error because the chapter ring/dial lined up at 3 & 9 O'Clock positions but not at 12 and 6 I don't know how to otherwise explain the issue...

Anyway Seiko said they would call me so I guess I'll just wait and see.....

Seiko decided to change my "J" (made in Japan) "21 jewels" dial with a "K" (made in ???) dial.

When I pointed it out, the watchmaker took a look and they said they will have to check with the spare parts division....

What would you do? Keep the misaligned "j" or accept an aligned "k" replacement dial?

I'd probably go for whichever looked best aligned, but option one would be asking them to get a new J dial if you're not in a hurry.

I think it is preferable to have the "J" dial as that is what originally came with the watch...but if it isn't possible, then I'll just have to accept the 'k'. Its just that I did pay a little extra originally for the 'j' but I guess its the same model watch, I just lose a couple of lines of text on the dial

I wonder if this has happened to anyone else, or if I'm breaking new ground on this one.....

The dials look different- added “21Jewles” line- these are JDM versions.

I’d ask for the correct dial. It correctly identifies the watch.

(Note my bias as I own one)

Yeah, it'll probably be a PITA for the watchmaker, but it should have the dial it was born with, if at all possible. These are the things that matter to a WIS.

I'm fearing that the correct dial ("J") may not be available outside of Japan, if that's the case what do I do? Keep the old misaligned or go with the new 'k' aligned?

I didn't realise the quality control on these dials was so poor. But I guess I've never had a defective aligned dial before.....

I threw mine on a bracelet and swap to a NATO rarely but that rubber strap I couldn't do. Your right, it's stiff and uncomfortable.

I’d keep the “j” version dial in the watch definitely. My experience has been that the cause of misalignment is usually the chapter ring. This is made out of plastic and has a little nub on the back to align into the case, but even so there is a bit of play. I’ve modded both the SKX007 & 009 and found the chapter rings are the most finnicky part. Also the bezel inserts can sometimes be a probem with alignment depending on your OCD level. Pretty much need to gently remove the insert and reseat it with the proper alignment.

They are mass produced. Mine has lume print that is not perfectly centered in the white printed plots for the markers. It’s not really noticeable unless you look for it. The dial looks perfect in normal viewing- the lume is deliberately printed smaller to allow some “fuge factor” to the printing.
