Anyways, here's what your 85% off gets you.

I wouldn't fly them either. My wife loves bargain airlines. I refuse to fly them which makes her angry

Not an airline I would use either. In fact, I prefer driving depending on distance being manageable, and time is not of the essence.

I had my worst airline experience in my life using spirit.
I flew from NY to Myrtle Beach with them. I gave them a try.
Long story short on the return flight they told us jfk (or LA Guardia I don't remember ) was overbooked ???? For landing space??.... we landed in Atlantic City sat on the pavement for 2 hours only to be told we would not have a flight to NY and was offered a bus ride back but the bus would only come in 2 to 3 hours.

I ended up renting an enterprise car at a rape you rate and drove back to NY myself.
I disputed the charge with amex and amex sided with spirit. F*** that company I will dance on their grave when they go out of business.

And yes their "great rates" are little more than false advertising and bate and switch.
I hate you spirit airlines

I can fly them for free, and they go between my commute airports.. I've gone out of my way to never use them.

I'm a cheap pilot though, if you paid me I'd do it.

I flew to Myrtle Beach for $1 one time on Spirit ($38 all in w/ fees). It wasn't a horrible experience by any means. I would never pay anywhere near the same amount as another airline but for a quick trip to the beach it was cheaper than gas.

I flew them once to Vegas and will never ever fly them again, by far the worst airline in the business.

That's a case for false advertising if ever I saw one. I'd love to see an airline rep explain what the "Passenger Usage Charge" is to a judge, and why the discount isn't applied to it.

Their Yelp reviews make for fun reading.
Someone called them the DMV with wings, sums it up nicely.

Due to extreme consumer backlash Canadian airlines can only advertise an "all in" full disclosure price.........we used to have this kind of extreme BS until the newly mandated airline advertising regs recently took effect.

Normally we'd get.........LONDON for $79..........got your attention now LOL............and after adding up both ways plus fees and taxes it now reads.......LONDON $679...........heh.

Air New Zealand got busted for doing exactly that a few years back and fined around $600,000 for their deception. The Advertising Standards Authority down there are more aggressive take a very dim view of false advertising.

Sometimes, my wife and I will jump on the computer and book a cheap flight on Spirit for a day trip. We might fly to Chicago, Myrtle Beach, Jacksonville, etc for 12-24 hours and get a nice meal and see some sights. I fly Delta almost exclusively, but for a day trip Spirit isn't that bad. Also, we have agreed that any Spirit flight must be under 2 hours or we could not handle it.

Not including taxes in the advertised price is fair enough but this is totally misleading.

My brother just flew Spirit last week. Ft. Myers, FL to Boston: $36. Return flight was $71. Hard to beat $107 round trip FL to Boston.

Flown them once and never again. Once you pay the extra fees for checked baggage, carry on baggage, a glass of coke on the plane and all the other extra fees, it ends up costing more than other airlines.
Also the seats are the smallest among any airline I have flown and very uncomfortable.
Basically no frills at all and price ends up the same once they are done nickel and dimeing you to death.
