5320 Casual watch?

Guys looking for an opinion.

Current Patek collection consists of 5712 steel and 5167 steel on rubber.

I really love how the 5320 looks in pictures and look forward to seeing it in person. I very much would also like to diversify my collection with more complicated Patek watch with leather strap.

My question is can this watch be worn with casual South Florida attire? i.e. shorts/Polo shirt or would I be better off with rose gold precious metal like 5164r or 5980r

Thanks in advance!
John

I think its too dressy for casual attire but the real issue is how would the leather strap hold up in the florida heat? How about 5980r on bracelet?

I agree, leather in the heat is not a great combination.

I wear leather straps in south florida all the time and no issue at all. At 40mm the 5320 will be fairly versatile in my view.

I find it very casual in a sense, about the heat I lived in the US 9 years, when it was hot we were going from air conditioned place to an other, shouldn't be a big problem except if you sweat a lot

5980R on composite strap should do the trick!

You already have a Naut and Aqua so I like this move for your collection. It is the most casual out of the PCs by far IMO. I don't love the price tag and would prefer a micro rotor but we can't have it all. 5524 may also be another possible casual option just not sure about the Pushers

I agree with both Thomas and Mike.
IMO it would nicely compliment your other two pieces.
I can't see any problem why it couldn't be worn with casual attire as you suggest.

I would also recommend 5524g if you are able to source one

I think it's perfect and I'll be wearing mine with jeans and a tee shirt.

People ask these questions all the time. I do not know why. Watches are so personal that what suits ones taste may not suit another but no one really anymore would ever say your watch doesn't match your outfit. We see large, huge, sports watches with suits and Calatravas with shorts. To each his own. You cannot go wrong if you like it.

I think it could go casual, certainly funky. Size and retro vibe gives it a different feel than the classical PCs.

I'm of the opinion that it could go casual 100%. In fact I think it looks better causal than not.

It ok for casual if you change the strap to non shiny leather. The strap makes a big difference. Alligator finish screams dress watch imo.

Also, you might think about a water resistant leather strap considering the heat&humidity in Florida. You can experience with some Hirsh and see what you like best.

I leave in Middle East and I have given the leather strap Patek option a lot of thinking. I rarely wear my leather strap watches because of the heat. That's why I am still thinking if Calatrava is a good choice while I am still in ME.

Dear Calatrava R.
Well said. These type of questions from a newbie are fair enough. But it's mostly bragging rights when posted by a non newbie.
But hey, each to their own. They're not doing any harm and it keeps them of the streets.

Unless you are going to wear the 5320 as your daily watch, I don't think you need to worry about not being able to wear it with casual attire. It probably is not a good idea to wear watches with leather straps to the beach, but then you already have a 5167 with a rubber strap for that purpose.

I think the white metal allows it to be worn in more casual settings, compared to a RG/YG watch. If you want to change the leather strap, you can certainly do that.

The 5164 and 5980 are great watches with different complications and you can't go wrong with either of these.

Patek has a long history of making some excellent perpetual calendar pieces and the 5320 will certainly continue that legacy.

@Verdi. You must sweat buckets!!! I been living in Middle East for 10 years and prior to that Mauritius when I never had an issue with leather straps! Let's be frank if it does get iffy...replace it after a few years....

I don't I sweat more any other person, it just gets uncomfortable to have moisture/sweat under the strap. In my case, the skin goes reddish under the strap after a full day in the summer.
In UAE heat, a leather strap would last 2 summers if you wear it a lot. A Hirsh water resistant strap it may last longer but more important is that it would feel and look better for casual wear.

When summer comes and the temperature goes over 40C I don't even contemplate wearing a leather strap anymore. It's always an oyster bracelet for me. I wear a leather strap watch if I need to dress up, otherwise it is always a cool season option.

I think the strap can either dress it up or down. If I had this watch I would wear it for both.

I think it will nicely diversify your collection. While I don't think it's a sporty watch, I think you can get away with wearing it with shorts and a polo
