What glass on this GMT 1675 ?

Does anyone know ref or name of the glass on this GMT ? It has curved edges.
Owner claims it’s the original glass.

It looks like an old T116 which were domed. Very rarely seen and hard to find.

Thanks. Do you know if we have an historical ref sequence for the 1675 glasses and bezels?

Ref sequence? Handle enough watches and study and you will understand most. There are definetly different eras for each.

Most 1675’s have newer crystals with the sharp edge.

Crystals no. Inserts maybe. During the 60’s it is basically only one font and from the 70’s they start to change more.

This is the usual font during the gilt era with the slightly lower and wider triangle. Colors vary and around 1968 you often see these in fuchsia together with mk1 matte dials.

From around 1970 or just before the font changes a bit and becomes higher. Shape of the triangle is the easiest tell. After that you see the super/mega fat font ones that often fade with a dark blue and a much more faded red. A number or versions run throught the seventies until they in the 80’s get blue backs. What you should look at is font and color style. The thickness of the text is not really what tells you what’s what. That is more dependant on the wear of the printing pad.

Ok now that curved crystal with the date pip is cool! For some reason I thought all GMTs kept the sharper top hat crystals.

Is it only the curved T116 crystals only period correct on the earlier gilt dials? Or are there any overlap with early matte dials (eg like with the small gmt hand)?

For all the production of 1675 and 16750 the two glass available in the part catalog were the Cyclope 116 and the Tropic 38(as service part with no Magnifier).

During the years Roles modified the edges of this glasses to make it a bit stronger, so the code number are the same but now a bit more sharper.
