Audemars Piguet 15500 Winding
I recently purchased a new AP Royal Oak 15500 from a boutique. I have a question about winding it. When the power reserve is out, I unscrew the crown and turn it clockwise many times but the movement does not start. I even go up to turning the crown 70ish times. It is only when I manually move the watch to turn the rotor that the movement starts again. Am I winding it wrong? Why does the movement not begin after I wind the crown clockwise so many times?

Your most likely winding it in the wrong crown position. Do you feel some resistance when winding it?
If you bought from boutique, you can always go back and have them show you. |

Yes it’s a slow starter - there is a topic discussing this at length here - it’s normal with the 15500 movement but one should expect better I guess

My 15500 need a bit of a nudge to start moving after a wind. Actually, I do too!
No problem, works great. |

If a mechanical movement's escapement is on a "locking" position when the watch runs out of power, you will need to shake/bump it gently to get it going again.
