my holy grail: 1680+big crown buckle on Everest rubber strap

If there ever comes a time when I can customize my own Rolex, it will look exactly like this.

1680 (white and red) sub
BIG Rolex crown deployment buckle on an Everest rubber strap

This is truly my holy grail of watches!

It is and here's why. The way Everest designed their strap is ONE-SIZE fits all. That's no so good for people with smaller wrist. If I use a full size oyster on the 6-side, then it sticks out because it's about 3mm too long. On the 12-side I have to use two oyster sections. The second is to "buffer" and creates a natural groove for comfort and aesthetics.

This is the problem I have with these arrangements - the clasp/links where they join the rubber strap just look messy to me, but if you love it, then that's what matters. Love the 1680!

Great watch!
But I dont like the rubber strap. It just looks weird on this vintage model, and the clasp arrangement is not pretty.

For a rubber strap I would use an Isofrane or a tropic strap.

+1 , I like the idea but a vintage or vintage look would be my choice. But that is one nice
1680 :-) M

Quick update: I reworked the buckle and extensions to give the look and feel a much better balance. Let me know what you think. Took out the jubilee piece and replaced it....

I feel the same way. I wish that Rolex would offer a proper deployant, or at least a normal tang buckle.

Honestly it'd look far better just with an Isofrane strap and tang buckle (and be more secure and comfortable). I realise you like it, but it just looks to me like a bit of a bodge job solution for a problem that should never have existed in the first place were it not for the fact that Rolex are assholes when it comes to aftermarket parts availability. If they'd just sell a stainless version of the Daytona strap deployant clasp none of this screwing around would be necessary.

Actually, it looks great on all sides (the leather looks very classy). I do want to clarify that the band was developed under the thought that the 116610 and the 16610 would be its largest buyers - but it does fit the 1680.

Here is a shot on the 116610....

Vincent, thanks! It is a lot harder to get this right then it looks!!!! We are working out some details on our shopping cart. We had a few problems with changing a payment gateway. If you would like to get one, just call our offices or PM me.
