Rolex Bubbleback Advice

Good afternoon all,
I have the opportunity to pick up my first Bubbleback from an acquaintance for about $2,000. I don't know much and all I have right now is this one picture and the serial number of 36587. The seller is a great guy and I think it is a fair price- he thinks the hands and dial are untouched, but my eye is not trained in this matter. If someone could confirm the price being fair or give fair value, and also give me a opinion on the dial and hands. It appears to be a pre-explorer style model which I know is desirable, and the case is 34mm. Thanks for any help. Sorry about the quality of the photo.

Hello Mellomitch!
I love bubblebacks, and find them very interesting collecting Rolex variant.

Anyway, in your case, I guess 2K could be a very cheap price, or a very expensive price for a bubbleback, depending in the real condition of the watch, case, dial and movement, something we can not see by your picture, which only shows the dial, and not even the whole case, nor the case back, nor movement.

I regret to say that I feel nobody could give you a good opinion about value of this time piece with just this picture and no more data or additional photos.
Just my personal opinion.
Best cordial regards, Abel.

The bubblebacks are great vintage timepieces. My first love with Rolex was a bubbleback. The dial on your watch appears to have been re-dialed, as noted by the seller - which is fairly common for the bubblebacks. The more original the watch, the further north the price goes up. Maybe you could post some more pics so someone could help you out better with the value.
