11hours in a plane...

Hello,

Just arrived to Shanghai, I'll be around China (Shanghai, Beijing Guangzhou) and HongKong during the next 10 days, so if you are here, let me know and let's meet for a beer

I've been thinking in the plane, I think that I will sell my JLC Navy Seals and my Panerai 372 and I'll buy a Explorer II ''polar'', I will keep my DSSD and Explorer II for long long time. I think with these two watches I'll have all my needs covered. Sea or mountain, no problem :)

Why I think like this? cause some people complain about the service in JLC and Panerai, long time, maybe expensive comparing with other similar brands, and yes, they are manufacture, but they belong to a watch group... If before I was looking for some nice brands with that was manufacture, now I'm looking for and independent brands and with good service.

I know that in Rolex there is no problem, at least in the places that I know.

For example, I went to Hong Kong 8 months ago, I had my ex 14060m with me and I was worried about the WR, so I went to the Rolex service and after 20min and two waters, they gave me the watch and told me, NO PROBLEM, YOU CAN DIVE WITH IT, HAVE A GOOD DAY! I asked them about how much time they will need to fully service the watch, change something if need and polish if need, they told me, TWO WEEKS! That's amazing :)

What do you think?

Best regards

First, long plane ride! Whew. Second, I think you should do what makes you happy.

Do what makes you happy, but, I wouldn't make that trade (maybe DSSD for Explorer II though).

Toooooo long to be on a plane but walking would just take so much longer.

I like the polar explorer a lot.
I have the new 42mm as well as the previous....both exceptional & great travel watches!

Personally Panerai does nothing for me, so I would say go for it. However, you need to do what makes you happy since you're the person who has to live with it. Good luck with your decision!

I think you will be fine with those two. I thought about the same thing if I ever consolidate down to just two rolex ... I will only keep white SS Daytona and GMT2c.

Enjoy the flight! I took a nice long flight like that to Qatar this past year and my Exp II held up nicely with the extreme heat. Enjoy your travels and the Exp II gets my vote

If this is your conclusion after 11 hours of thinking, then you cannot be wrong.

Just my opinion, but I would not let your fantastic JLC go for a Rolex Explorer 2!

The 216570 is a great watch.
Would be tough to part with a JLC and 372 though.
Good luck. Nothing wrong with a little change.

I'd keep the JLC and do a trade for the 372. You will have to add cash but it might not be that much depending on the condition. JLC, Rolex Explorer II and DSSD would be a nice collection.

I think all the watches you mentioned are very nice watches.

To me, the most important differentiating factor between them is how much each sings to you.

From what you have said, it certainly sounds like the Deep Sea - Explorer II combination is singing the clearest and loudest.

I have no experience with Panerai or JLC, but If servicing issues are putting you off long term ownership, then I say go with your plan and offload them for the Explorer II.
