Trying to identify Rolex Speedking

Hi all,

I just got a Rolex Speedking and try to become friends with it.
Its stamped serial#: 493550

Crown says: 'Rolex Oyster' with a swiss cross in between.

Couldnt find any information on Rolex serials/manufacturing years online at all.
Can anyone help on dating this watch?

PS.: History of Speedking will also be appreciated apart from the usual goole hits.

Thanks a lot!

Some more data I've found on it...
Apparently its a 4220 Rolex Oyster Speedking,
Case size: 30 mm

Seller claims it could be a 1959 model, but not sure if the serial# fits. From what I found it could be older than that. There are a few same looking around being sold online...
Anyone knows on where to get a new plexiglass since its pretty scratched up already? (Rolex ONLY services this watch in Geneva - at a price triple the buying costs...).

Your help is really appreciated!

Just keep in mind that Rolex started over with their serial numbers in the 50’s. If it’s plexiglass, you can probably clean the crystal up using polywatch. Lastly, 30mm is pretty small to today’s standards. Just putting it out there. Good luck.

It should be 1958 or 59. Nice Watch, just a bit small!

Thanks so much for the first hints.

Is there anything like a list of serial# matching the building years available anywhere? Hints to any other sources of historical knowledge regarding the speedking are also most welcome, as I have not found much at all...
Thanks again
