My GMT II 16713 Two Tone Black

Just purchased my first Rolex. A GMT Master II 16713 Two Tone Black.
I've always loved this watch and have wanted one for some time now.

I find it very surprising how reasonable the two tones are to buy used vs the steel model. Is this just driven by fashion or am I missing something.
Hopefully in time the two tone will come back into fashion and maybe I've bought just when they have bottomed out.

What are your thoughts?

Congratulations on your first Rolex.
I’m a two tone guy myself. However the GMT of my choice would be TT Rootbeer.

Congrats! That's a lovely watch and the two-tone adds a nice touch. I think the stainless steel craze has things a bit different right now but in my opinion you made the best choice.

For the price of the steel models now (in some cases) it's better to just go for the two-tone or full PM model.

Also, a two-tone Rolex is timeless in my opinion! Enjoy in good health

TT never went out of fashion. It’s just there’s a crazy market for SS now. That’s a lovely watch. Wear it in good health!

Firstly.
Our opinions don’t matter, only yours does.

Having got that out of the way, I think you have done extremely well.

That is a lovely watch and to be treasured and enjoyed.

Two tone watches have been dealing with unnecessary stigma for some time now, but if you can leverage that and get a better deal now on a watch that you love and enjoy, you are already a winner.

Another quick question.
I bought from European Watch Company in Boston. It came with hang tags, two year warranty paperwork, booklets, box etc.
Do I notify Rolex that I am the new owner or anything like that?

Great watch, one of the best looking watches Rolex ever produced.

Rolex doesn't really track who owns the watches. You can let them know in writing with proof, and they will associate your name with your serial in the records, but it doesn't mean anything.

Very nice. Maybe we will see it on a Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver's wrist today ;.

Considered as out of fashion, old man's style, not baller enough to go all gold etc. Etc...

It's all unsubstantiated perceptions so doesn't matter.

Enjoy your watch and don't worry what others think.

Hi, my GMT Master II 16713 came back from service with a new insert. It looks different to the old one, the watch came with as new in 2001, when I bought it brand new from the AD . The service shop (same AD where I bought it from new) claims that the old one was delivered from factory by mistake. Anybody out there have seen an original Gold/steel model with a black/steel insert? I wonder if I should just keep the new insert or demand a steel/black? Or could the gold have gone away in the 20 years? Maybe it was black/gold from new, but I cannot recall.
