Glashutte SeaQ Panorama Date

Interested to see if anyone owns one and their thoughts. Looking for a more under the radar diver and am intrigued by this piece. Would pair with my SD4K.

The dials look beautiful. Domed sapphire is a cool throwback. Date window is different. Not a fan of the 1969 version with faux patina indices but the others I posted look pretty cool. Caseback is nice. Movement looks good and has some great specs.

I've tried on the black pano date and the 39mm. I actually preferred the smaller one. Has a retro charm. On my list for 2020

Thanks. That 1969 looks really nice. I just prefer the regular indices but still a killer watch.

I had one. The fit and finish are great. Beautiful accurate movement. Bracelet scratched up just by looking at it. I would wear it on a strap but not and polished bracelet.

Have you considered a Oris Divers 65?

I don’t know much about them, but I tried one on and they are neat

How about Seiko Prospex dive watches?

Wow that movement is ridiculously beautiful. I love it.

I had a Seiko SBDC063 for a bit and sold it. Was a nice watch, ended up getting a Pelagos LHD to replace it.

The Oris 65 are definitely nice.

Looking for something a little more on the higher end of the horology spectrum I guess. I like the Blancpain Bathyscaphe but feel it's a bit too similar aesthetically to the Sea Dweller with the round lume plots. Not different enough I guess to justify purchasing. Which is kinda why this Glashutte appeals to me.

I didn't get the hands much either until I watched a review on it. Basically that arrow on the minute hand is there to emphasize when it lines up with the triangle lume plot when you're diving so you can better visualize when it's time to head up. I never would've thought that. I can appreciate the purpose and thought behind it even if I'll never really use it for that.

It's also a little different compared to the standard hands I'm used to on the other watches I have so I kinda dig it. But yeah I can understand how it could be a no go for people.

Dial looks great, case looks great, movement looks stupendous.

But........................, I have seen the identical design of hands on $10 Hong Kong Specials, that were made in the 1970's. I cant quite get past that.

I like it. But at that price point there are a handful of other watches I like more.

I also would suggest looking at some of the Blancpain 50 Fathoms variants- if you want some variety look at the blue dials/variants. Also, you should look at some of the Sinn offerings. Saw a number of then in Germany, but they are not that well known in the US & make excellent tool watches.

Could also consider some of the JLC line- the Jaeger-LeCoultre Tribute to Deep Sea Chronograph might work for you & you can probably get a good deal on one of the current Polaris line watches. I think they are underappreciated.

Regarding Glashutte, I own one of their Senator Sixties Series dress watches (green enamel dial/no date). I absolutely love the uniqueness of the dial & the movement is beautifully finished (sapphire case back) w/a 22K (I think) yellow gold winding mass. Runs perfectly.

If I was to buy a diver and not a Rolex it could only be the mother of all dive watches; Blancpain FF

I like it. For me it would be between this and the Fifty Fathoms Barakuda. The regular FF if you have good wrists but for my small wrists the FF Barakuda at 40mm and sapphire bezel kills it. So Glasshute Original and Blancpain are the two I like because of the quality. Finishing on the Glasshute seems to be a bit better although they really went to town with the Cotes de Geneve.

GO watches are well made but perhaps a little aspirational in their retail pricing.

For around half the retail this SBGE201 is quite impressive in person. Not a diver, it's a GMT but very similar style

Really like this watch, but at £10k a touch pricey for a watch which only comes with a 2 year warranty, lose a couple of £,000's or put the warranty up to 5 years or better and I will be very interested.

It's way overpriced for what you get. Plus, it likely will not hold it's value well. It's not a special, unique, extraordinary, or classic piece, so I see no practical reason to pursue it.

Take a look at Doxa. Historically significant, (Doxa and Rolex co patented the HRV valve) very well made and at an excellent price point.

Models are grouped by dial color (orange, black, silver, yellow and blue) and then different sizes. (300, 750, 1200) Their beads of rice bracelets are legendary as well.

Good luck.

Hard to get behind this for the money. I’d get a 114060 or a BB58 or even a Pelagos before this one.

+1 on this. Owned a Silverlung and loved it. Very reasonably priced, cult following and reliable movements. Also easy to sell down the road if you need to.

Don’t be thrown off by the dimensions on paper, they wear smaller than their case sizes.

Strap version, blue dial is fantastic. I think it is a great diver alternative to some of the more often seen options out there.
