Love mine, I don’t get whey they aren’t more popular either. But then again I don’t buy what’s popular, I buy what I like.
Also the number one gripe seems to be fear of scratching the bezel. I don’t have a single mark after 4 months of near daily wear. |

I originally owned the platinum dial and changed for the newer blue dial but have now gone back to the platinum as even though the bracelet clasp isn't as good I think the watch looks better.
I don't understand the 'scratch magnet' comments, have any of those people actually owned one? it does influence people and nearly put me off buying one originally. I've never sctached the bezel on any of the three I've owned and worn daily. The vault in Hatton Garden quote £40/£50 for a sand blast refinish anyway so it's nothing to worry about, much better looking watch in my opinion to the submariner which I have also in many different versions |

It the first Rolex I ever wanted and (after many trades) is my most recent acquisition. It’s a little less “tool looking” and does not have the pedigree of the Sub or GMT. But I don’t need others to buy into it in order for me to appreciate it. If you want to see some amazing pics, see Jocke’s photos on this reference.

The YM is just an ultimate spring and summer time watch in my opinion. Hard to beat all the YM dial variations in the sunlight!

I’ve hated the YachtMaster for years!!! Metallic bezels?? YUCK!! Then I saw one and now it’s on my wrist. Love the blue sunburst variant as well.

It's an anti depression watch too..esp on cloudy days..
And also..in a pandemic too.. Every time I look at it..no matter what the lighting conditions..it just brings me up a notch or two.. |

I think the YM40 with the blue dial is a really beautiful watch and could be having a place in my collection not too far in the future. 40mm beautiful thin case, amazing dial with red text and sec hands, nice oyster bracelet, can be dressy and sport at the same time.. true winner but people want something to look like a Sub I guess

They are more expensive than a SS Sub or GMT. That may be one reason.

I love the look and the price isn't too bad on the resale market. I haven't seen one at my two local ads for a while, but saw one two years ago in the display.

Love both of mine. The Everose gold piece is stunning and on the SS piece the blue dial is very prominent and really pops especially in sunlight.

Why is yachtmaster so underrated
Quote:
IMHO, it's the combination of the dials and the unique platinum bezels that really make the watch. I find the ones with the black bezel and rubber straps far less appealing. I personally love the smaller footprint and thinner profile the watch provides. It's the only Rolex made with a rotating bezel that doesn't need a diet. So back to the original question. Most want to get as much as possible for as little as possible. Submariners are cheaper and thus sell better. I don't think they look near as nice. I'd much rather wear the Yachtmaster than any other rotating bezel Rolex. |

I guess it's my ignorance but I've always assumed it was because they wear small for a 40mm in relation to the other SS's in the line up.
I always thought this watch is in better proportion as a 42mm. I know they do a YM42, I assumed the rest of the line up would follow suit in time but maybe not. That said, it wouldn't put me off. I have always thought the YM would be the perfect one watch Rolex. |

Just spent 30 minutes looking at reviews of this watch on youtube. It looks great "live" on video. For the lucky owners here I highly recommend.

Beautiful watch. A toe-dip into luxury if you’re used to SS pieces like me.
