To add, I just prefer the all brushed links.

I’m putting another vote for Cartier Santos. Either a sub or gmt works with a suit. Functionality of the GMT is irreverent if you aren’t working with a second or third time zone.
My vote would be GMT.

Thanks very much for the warm words about OP. TT or other flashy, shiny variants not for me. Thinking of stainless steel models with date and much more convenient bracelet (my wrist is different in summer, winter, so easylink will be extremely perfect).

I wouldn't wear either with a suit on the regular. If I had to choose it would be a Sub Date though since I feel you want less color contrast on a watch you wear with a suit regularly. Would you consider the YM40? IMO perfect compromise.

I tried on Santos, but the version of Santos Dumont (not new, with large Roman numbers) I like more and I still regret that I haven't bought it a long time ago. They've now been deceased. I don’t know why, but I like more round versions of watches. If it’s Cartier - it’s Ballon Bleu or something else

I own both and switch them out often--sometimes on the same day. Love both the watches and don't need any others (though, truth be told I have others). But these two are my favorite. If I had to choose would give a slight edge to my GMT II (Batman on jubilee).

I´ve never been the least bothered by which watch to wear with what. I've worn my 1996 14060 Submariner with all sorts of attire, including tuxedos and even full tails! (The Sub was good enough for James Bond, wasn't it??) And at all sorts of venues, including formal (and very stuffy!) embassy receptions abroad. Nobody ever noticed my watch or made a comment. I could care less! Just my 5¢ worth here!

If you travel international I would suggest the GMT. If not then either is good..

Now I am the proud owner of OP39. I would like to purchase a more elegant model with date for every day with suits. It has to be SS model. Don't like the DJ, DJ36 is too small for me (had this model for about 2 years on my 19cm wrist), DJ41 looks too large and asymmetrical. OP39 is ideal, but doesn't have date and easylink bracelet, which is much more comfortable, than mine on OP39.
What to get? I think that from Rolex I have only two options: Sub or GMT2.
Tell me, please, which are more convenient in everyday wear? Do I need a second time zone? Is it convenient? There may be other advantages and disadvantages. I would be grateful for any comments and suggestions.
You mentioned a “more elegant” model and the daily watch. I am not sure what you really want. Also, how can DJ36 be too small for your wrist if DJ41 is too big? Neither Sub nor GMT are elegant watches...

If you like the OP39 then you should like the DJ41 which is actually 39mm:

I have mostly worn my GMT when I am at a business meeting. I have the black ceramic version. However, when I am in black tie event, I am typically wearing YG president or a vintage 50s zenith rose gold on leather strap.

Well, I mean visually DJ 41 looks for me too big and assymetrical.
Ideal size is 39 OP or Expl1. But I really want date. That’s why I am thinking of Sub or GMT.

36 too small for me as well, why not datejust 41? I have that and sub 114060.
Covers all situations. After wearing the sub the 41 feels small.

Sub over GMT Master II. I would go with an Explorer 2 of the GMT2.

To me the cleaner bezel and less busy dial of the sub go better with a suit
Both are beautiful watches!!

Haven’t thought about YM. Oysterflex will be perfect with suit?

I wear my white 116520 with suits and tuxes no problem. Looks great, but then again I am biased.

Sounds like the 116710LN would be the perfect option for you, check it out. It's the version with the all black bezel, the colours of the other GMT's look out of place on a suit. I think if your're wearing a suit everyday the GMT function itself comes across more business-like itself, the polished centre links add some more shine too which is much better for a suit in my personal opinion. i have this and the sub and would choose that one, however if i want to wear a submariner then i wear it.

Before COVID, I wore suits daily to work, so here are some pics for reference. OP vs GMT LN (Oyster) vs GMT BLNR (Jubilee). I have not owned a Sub.

Hope these help and please excuse the restroom shots!

OP to me is the ideal look, but I found the GMT's to be more functional.

Agree with this, Black bezel 116710LN is a great watch to wear with a dark suit.

Either/or but I think the GMT on jubilee is a perfect match.

We don’t wear suits in the office anymore, and that’s a big factor for me.

I just can’t justify having a “pure” dress watch. It would collect dust for me. I suppose I like some dress watches but not nearly as much as sport watches.

I just wear my black dial sub in the rare event of me actually wearing a suit.
