I had to get 3 extra links for my WG DD40. The AD agreed to pay for 2 and I paid for one. I didn't mind as this was in 2016 and I received a good discount off of MSRP.

On my SD43, I was at the most longest notch on the glidelock, which effectively rendered a great feature n/a for me. They ordered a half link at N/C.

No, of course not. They cost the AD money, why would they be free? Only for great clients at best.

DD40 Plat /Ice Blue ,AD got one in and I went to have a look.
Have never seen it before .
Tried it on ,bracelet shorter than my DJ41 on Jubilee which at max length is perfect ...
..Then the cost of the extra link !! Expensive !

I've needed and received up to three extras including full gold for a Day/Date, half gold for GMT's and never been charged. Depends of the AD's profit. But as a side thought can't venture to guess how many links were removed while fitting a new sale that remained on the watchmakers work bench.

Doesn’t affect me as I always have links removed but...I have no problem with a dealer charging for an item that they have to pay for themselves. Rolex, or any other watch company for that matter, prepares their bracelets to fit “most” people, it will never be perfect for everyone.

I can confirm the AD makes you pay. I just picked up a bargirl last week, and while it fits, it’s not comfortable so I have another two links coming.

Hint refuse to pay for them when they arrive. Then ask the AD for a refund If he refuses. I bet I can tell you what’s going to happen.

My AD put on an extra link for free. I'm sure it cost them, they just like to give good service. I think it's smart on their part.

Ten, fifteen years ago I was at my AD just looking and spotted a 16613 black TT Sub among the maxi case six digit Subs. I bought it with a nice discount. After the sale I tried on the watch, tight but wearable. I needed a link. He checked stock and had to order. got a call and picked up the link no charge. Times have changed.

I dropped £7k on a ladies DJ for my wife 18 months ago. I had to buy an extra link for the jubilee braclet. To say i was pissed off is an understatement.

This is all pretty crazy. Say what you want about Tourneau, but they have a company policy to include 2 (or 3, I forget) additional links with ANY new Rolex purchase. All you have to do is ask. Particularly good value with the pm models

Big difference between a SS link and a PM link. My AD keeps extra links on hand and typically takes care of it outside a sale, no additional cost. I have a friend who bought a DD 36 and needed a link and they included it in the sale price, no big deal. Most AD's have a parts account that is subsidized by sales and it is about customers being satisfied.

I have no plans to get involved in any way with a Rolex AD. I bought my DSSD years ago second hand, then traded it to an independent non-AD dealer for my 16710 BLRO. (Thank you @SohAIS!!) The idea of needing to "build a relationship" with an AD is just not something I want to do. I can say that because I'm not a collector. If you are a collector, I suppose you do what you have to do. But it's all well outside my comfort zone.

What? You got a watch winder from your AD? All I got was some catalogs and a bag, no champagne or anything. I guess a 4 day wait for a Sub date without a relationship was my gift.

I have NEVER paid for a Rolex extra link. I simply tell the AD that I have large wrists and I expect and will not pay extra for making the watch fit. Guess what? I was never turned down not even for an 18K link. Paying for an extra like on a $15-20K watch is just simply stupid when they are making an $8K profit.

They take a link out of every new watch and put it in stock. The watch is sold and may be just right and they are ahead a link. over the years they are able to have a lot of links to give away.

Even 18K gold links that retail for several hundred dollars a piece?
Good luck with that Larry

Devil’s advocate here. So if you were waiting on an LV, BLRO, Daytona, etc for 2 or 3 years, you finally got the call, and they said you had to buy an extra link, you’d walk away from it?

Yep because I make that clear before its even ordered. If your not getting a discount the AD has a 40% profit margin they can afford the link.

Well that is a real bummer if true, I bought mine from a Tourneau and had to pay for a half link after the fact. Not bad, 60 bucks I think. It technically fit, just did not balance correctly with how the Glidelock was adjusted. That watch is now sold, otherwise I'd be counting the links to verify right now.

DSSD I had to pay as well, but that was to be expected since I replaced the divers extension with 1 + 1/2 link. Fits much better, but I wouldn't expect them to pick up the tab for that one.

I also noticed when trying on a DD that I would need at least one or two extra links at 500 each, whereas ever other Rolex I've tried fit with a little room to spare. Rolex is making some $$$ making those 18k bracelets shorter, for sure.

Its solely up to the AD as to weather or not they can provide an extra link, but plan to pay for one if this is the case

Imagine going to a shoe shop and paying extra for a pair of shoes to fit or a shirt etc. Crazy yet sad at the same time. Thought Rolex was a charity ha!
