I never liked it until I saw one in the flesh. It's a beauty. Check my review of it.

007 wore a Sea Master, would have rather preferred a YM.

No idea why it's not as popular, as it's an awesome ref. It has steadily become much more desirable though.

I tried one on a couple of years ago. Thought it looked good, but I chose a Bluesy.

I have lots of love for this model. Don’t think it gets enough love but that’s fine for the people who really want it and aren’t buying just for the hype. I personally think the rhodium dial is the best looking one but we can agree to disagree :) Stay safe everyone

Love the YM for its case elegance and different dial options, just overpriced for a bezel.

I used to totally overlook this watch, which is what I think most of us are doing, heck when I used to think yachtmaster I always pictured the huge white dial yachtmasterII and didn’t even know this model existed. Being sort of hidden/tucked away on the Rolex website doesn’t help either.
But then I started to notice it more and when I began to look into its features I was sold. Things like like the platinum bi directional bezel, the stunning sunburst rhodium and blue dial options on the ss versions and that sunburst chocolate dial on the two tone. As well as that low profile case design that just hugs the wrist and turned out to be super comfortable. And the polished case and centre links that gives it a versatile yet classy do it all quality etc. not to mention the bonus that they are easier to obtain at an AD with no games and so on. All this managed to successfully push the sub and gmt lower on my watch want list and when I got a call recently from the AD I grabbed it. |

The bezels can really get scratched up and look pretty bad.

I was almost disappointed to see this thread because the YM will be my next purchase and don’t want it to join the hype list
Before my AD closed I was working with them to see each reference in the flesh because I am simply paralyzed as to which one I prefer. I’m leaning towards the Rhodium, but really love the Blue (I own a Bluesy) and the RG oysterflex is also an option as I’ve tried that one on... |

Actually helps you quite a bit here by getting more money for your Sub and not paying more for a YM. The blue dial YM is stunning. |

Wow. I’m not sure if it’s the lighting but that blue really pops and has me reconsidering my leaning towards the rhodium dial. Grats on the blusey!

If I’m not mistaken, there was a time when Daytona’s weren’t hyped
The 6263 and such And now everyone wants one I wonder if 59 years from now everyone will want a Yachtmaster because everyone and their mom will have a sub or gmt from this era Just thinking outloud |

I fell for Rolex while in boarding school in the 80s. This was pre-internet and we had a lot of time on our hands. When not getting high or spending time trying to sneak into the girl's dorm, we'd pass around a Robb Rpt. or GQ and bluster about which watches/cars/homes/jobs/etc we would have when we made it. These experiences must explain why I still prefer the styles they created from the 70s and 80s.
This said, I dig the use of the matching colors on the YM dial and second hand. I like that these grab your attention and pop. The main complaint I can think of is that they are a tool watch without a well defined need. They are intended to be used whilst sailing/boating, but the 44 is too big and too busy and the 40 looks too much like a Sub to be unique. At the end of the day, wear what you like, and never worry about what others think. |

Thanks, man! I love the warmth of the blue dial on the YG one myself. It’s called Royal Blue and the SS/Plat one has the cobalt blue dial which is a bit “colder” but sportier in appearance...this might be common info to all y’all but anyway...
