Production up and running!
Hello all...
Just wanted to share in the madness with you a bit...I am very proud of our undergraduates... Much of my work at university is to discover and nurture new talent in terms of acting, directing, design, sound, lighting, stage management etc... Recently an ex student : Matt lutton has been doing exceptionally well and is now working with Cate Blanchett at the Sydney Theatre company...his new production of the Trial has been a massive success. Matt started as an 18 year old undergrad in 2002 with a complete desire to direct....he is now hailed as one of the Australians to look out for in the future. And he is heading for great things. He is now inspiring the next generation....maybe another will come along soon   For the past 4months I have been working with a cast of 12 undergraduate drama and performance students and 6 technical students towards a production of an early 20th century Russian text : the cherry orchard by Chekhov... We opened two nights ago...we have sold out..which is fantastic...although in a 80 seater studio space. So here are some pics from the dress rehearsal..... Some definitely strong contenders in amongst these....but it's a terribly hard industry. I know you'll all join me in wishing them luck...I can now relax a bit  Even though I think a couple of TRFers may be coming

Great to hear things are going well for the production at the moment Dalip...
I hope it's a success for you and leads to bigger and better things for the undergrads as well.... If I was in town I'd certainly take a look myself!! I just wonder how good the director is?????

Excellent photos.
It's impossible to judge the performance, but the costuming looks really well executed, which speaks well of the production as a whole. Tell the cast and crew to break a leg!

It was the best run last night so far.... We have 3 more to go with a VIP night on Friday which the vice chancellor is attending....so there'll be plenty of rallying around And tonight of course the TRF VIPs are coming Yes...there'll be drinks afterwards....
