DRSD 1665 Dome Crystal Question

OK, I researched this extensively and I still can't find the answer. This photo shows a 5-mil. DRSD 1665. Can someone tell me about this crystal? It doesn't look like a super dome T-39, not any that I can find anyway. And it's certainly not a service crystal because it doesn't have the high sides. There seems to be a variation in the height of the non-service domed crystals. Perhaps this is just one of the low ones? Any help much appreciated.

T39

there are at least 5 different series of domed glasses for 1665 with different heights : this one is not certainly a service one but in my opinion belongs to the shortest series .. and probably polished more than one time.
just for comparison here is a Rolex booklet from the beginning of the 80s that shows the domed glass in use at that time :

comparison with ...

a domed glass in a Rolex booklet for double red 1665 ( early 70s ) : as you can see the glass is much higher than the one in the later booklet ...

I think that is probably the answer, a T-19 on a 1665, because the one I posted doesn't look as if it has any sides to it. I'm not sure all the polishing in the world could remove the sides.

we must also consider the bezel insert; sometimes we find it raised in the inner part, covering the step of the T39 ... as in my Rail dial.
i like this feature.

maybe .. but a full side picture of the watch without bezel/insert would give the answer !

Excellent point about the insert. I didn't think about that. The watch is being serviced at the moment, so I'll see if I can get a photo of it without the bezel to see about the sides of the dome. Thanks all.
