OP, also remember the cost and TIME it takes for servicing. Some companies take 6 months(!). Agree watetproofness should be 100m. Gotta +1 for the SS SkyD, plus you can have both bracelets and am sure someone has end bits for leather/rubber straps.

Good luck with your quest... although I think if you got it down to one watch it would likely just be the first watch you have to start building a new collection. That is how it goes.

Thank you all. Lot of great suggestions. VC dual time extremely compelling, if ALS did the Odysseus white gold version (or a new rose gold) with a bracelet and strap change option like VC that would probably be it for me. Also agree that Rolex sky dweller is as good of an all rounder as it gets and it’s robustness, ease / time of service is a huge plus. PP 5726 or 5990 would work but I thought those were well in excess of 100k. Last one I am throwing into the mix is bathyscaphe annual calendar moon phase.

The Bathyscaphe Quantieme Complete? Heck of a lot of watch for the money. You can get the amazing bracelet and strap for different looks. Leaves a lot of money left over for fun times and adventures.

Good point, I actually wore the Blancpain leman perpetual calendar Chrono as my only/daily watch for ~5 years. Also, wearing it regularly helps keep me from having to set the perpetual calendar mechanism.

And fancy complication on a sports Lange, AP, VC, Patek, Moser, Czapek, etc. should perfectly fit the bill. A few things to consider: 1) do they fill damage or polish it? 2) is 42mm+ really what you’ll want in ten years.. twenty?

Personally I’d go with an Odysseu or VC dual time, but I prefer ’simpler’ complications. The new perpetual aquanaut and VC are also tremendous.

Edit: turns out the 5261R is 30mm wr. What a shame, Patek.

I used to have the chrono running all the time and wore it everywhere, even while go-karting so perhaps it was not ideal.

A few months ago I had to have it serviced after the power reserve didn't function properly, but this was after a decent 6 years of wear. Servicing was surprisingly not too expensive for a grand complication.

I had the same requirements 2 years ago.

I went with the VC 7900V (black dial) and still in the honeymoon period.

150M water/dust resistant, date wheel & GMT is perfect for a daily and its bloody comfortable on the rubber, of which VC make in multiple colours.

7 year warranty or balance of, if it's still within the standard warranty window.

I think you need to bite the bullet and get a grey market 5990 (with some good negotiation skills). It has the dual time. I know that you don't like the chrono, but it has the dual time... And if you are only going to one watch, I could not think of a better watch to have.

Though, for half the price, my second choice would be a an AP Royal Oak Dual Time. 26120ST.
