J series strap realease button pops off!

On another forum dont know if i can say which, this poor guys button popped off. The little button under the lug of the watch... I was just wondering how panerai put those little buttons in... if they come off this easy i really hope they are not glued in there. PLEASE TELL ME THEY WOULD NOT GLUE A 9K watch as well as all other J series models or is this just a one of a kind problem... any info would be great. here are the pics from that guys watch./..

I really hope this does not happen to mine, i mean with swimming and showering and everyday wear and tear is bound to loosen the glue and make my buttons fall of too if they are glued..

They are held in with a spring loaded type action, but this is not the first time I have heard of this. I know some people say that it is a new system and will have kinks, but I think Panerai was over thinking things when they made this change.

Fact is, especially as often as Paneristi (which it is okay to name other sites here, LOL!) do, they should have left the screws. I hope they improve this method, but I they better leave the historic line alone, MHO.

I completely concur Dman..

Hey Dman, do you think down the line if mine ever comes off or if I just want to have it sent in to panerai, would they update the button with a fixed version if they have one? I mean if this is happening and panerai knows of this, I would think they are already working on a fix for all new watches and the current J series models? One day my button could pop off and the bar could slide out and off comes my panerai.. thats what im scared of..

I mean the thought of having to send this in all the time for service would kill me..

Is there anything you can recommend for me to be more careful when using the strap realease button when changing straps? Also do you think panerai ever presure tested these cases with the button installed?

panerai is also not the only watch company that has a little realease button for the strap from what i have heard... i wonder what they are doing that panerai isn't?

I also would think since this button is held in the lug by a spring loaded action like you say, maybe the button will never fall off while the bracelet/strap is locked and in place?

maybe the only way to lose it is when taking the strap off?

Most the companies that use it are Richemont, panerai's daddy. So they are working it. Panerai is good about updating if yours would have a problem. Really have only seen it happen during strap changes, and a couple to we at that. But it is still nerve wracking for sure.

Honestly, if you want to put your mind at ease, call Chad at the Beverly Hills boutique. Number is on Panerai web site. Tell him Daren (dman) in Texas told you to call. Explain your concerns to him and he'll update you on how and what they've done. Chad is tops and the best ammbasador Panerai could have.
