I'll add I would stay from just The bellagio up to The Encore, no further north then Encore and skip The Link, Bally's, Paris, Harrah's and Caesars.

City center is a nightmare and the hotels I listed above to skip are all in Bankruptcy

With so many inquirees reguarding hotels here in Las Vegas, I thought I could possibly help out...I will list what I call "The Major Hotels"...these are hotels that are very well known, rangeing in various prices, on and off The Strip..I rated the prices on a $-$$$$ system...

THE PALMS...bit of a party hotel, very MTvish, younger crowd. Just off strip. NINE Steakhouse is super. Great pool, spa amenities etc. Also have many "themed"suites as well. $$$

THE RIO...every room is a suite. Buffet is well known. The Voodoo Bar Lounge is a must visit from atop the hotel. $$

BELLAGIO...5 star. One of the strips finest hotels, and centrally located. Pricey. $$$$

CAESARS...Nothing has really changed in 30 yrs at this golden oldie. Brought back to life with HANGOVER somewhat. BONUS...you can walk to the Forum Shoppes and hit the Rolex AD, and Casa Fuentes for an Opus X. $$

MIRAGE...In the middle of it all. Reasonable priced rooms. The Beatles Cirque du Soleil is currently performing there. Great show. $$

MANDALAY BAY...reasonable rates. Topless pool for adults. Wave machine beach. Family scene. $$

LUXOR..."The Pyramid"..reasonable rates. Cris Angel show. $$

PALLAZZO...This would be the next level up from Caesars/Mirage and just under Bellagio and The Wynn. A bit pricier as well. Italian themed gorgeous hotel. $$$

VENETIAN...Same as Pallazzo, and don't forget to ride the gondolas through the canals of Vegas!lol Great shopping as well in the Venetian Shops. $$$

HARD ROCK HOTEL...party hotel. LOUD! Alot of action! I put it in the same group as The Palms as far as partying goes! Bit pricey Because you are paying for all that! Great concerts, great pool,NOBU sushi, Pink Taco! You better take you vitamins!lol I suggest renting a cabana by the pool! OMG. $$$

COSMOPOLITAN...the newest hotels are here in "city center". It may be a bit "busy" but is super nice! Crispy new smell! New casino feel. Rooms are ultra modern and chic. Great bars and a lot of good "people watching". The nightclubs are some of the best in Las Vegas. A bit pricier than the average. $$$

ARIA...next door neighbor to Cosmopolitan, just as chic, same prices basically, with same accomadations. $$$

MGM...the largest hotel in Las Vegas. Various rooms at various prices. Depending on what's "going on" that particular weekend can affect room prices( fights, concerts etc) so check in advance. $$

THE WYNN/ENCORE...5 star with 5star prices. I don't need to explain how Steve Wynn does it. Golf course on site. AD Rolex dealer downstairs. Arguably the best buffet on the strip. Great nightclubs and shows as well. $$$$

This list obviously is a "short" list of what is here in Las Vegas, but a list that I feel reflects safety, price, and accomadations over-all, for all different budgets and tastes.

I hope this list will somewhat help the travelers coming in...if you have any questions, dont hesitate to PM me before booking a hotel. See everyone soon!

Two words...Mandarin Oriental.

It's where I always stay and best of the best in LV IMHO.

Icon14 Mandarin Oriental Hotel Las Vegas

No doubt Paul that The Mandarin Oriental is very nice...5 star. For travelers info, The Mandarin Oriental is a boutique hotel located inside City Center, next to Aria and Cosmopolitan. I would definitely put in the category of Bellagio etc..$$$$.No casino.

After probably 30 trips to LV and staying almost everywhere I have wanted, it's the best (as also rated by Tripadvisor #1 vs #16 Bellagio http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g4...da-Hotels.html). But again I'm bias as it's close to Richard Mille

Wherever people decide to stay, it will be a good GTG no doubt.

I'm not debating which is the best hotel in Las Vegas(#1 vs. #17), and you've stayed in them all apparently. Maybe you should have taken the time to make the hotel list? I was mearly throwing some of the mainstream hotels out there for guests to check out, that haven't been here 30x. And did it ever dawn on you that not all budgets may allow a stay at The Mandorin Oriental? If you'd have taken the time to read previous threads, alot of people are on budgets because of children, school, etc. Maybe you should stop and think before you says things in a pompous way( I think you referred to it as bias). I was merely trying to show that hotels can be had from $125 a night and up...

Easy tiger, no one is being 'pompous', I was merely passing along PERSONAL experience as well as a link for those that might want to read reviews on the various hotels.

As noted (and as I read in previous posts), everyone will probably stay at various hotels, hence I thought TripAdvisor a good starting point. Certainly gives good reviews as well as rankings (hence #1 to #100).

No harm, no foul here. People can stay at the Circus Cirus or the Mandarin...makes no difference to me.

Now back to the point of the thread...

Mandarin Oriental and the Four Seasons are pretty sweet as well, no casinos. Rio is in BK too and closing 3 restaurants. The Palms is been taken over by a investment fund I believe another another casualty.

Just do research and everyone will find their own sweet spot. And as is customary, most charge a resort fee from 20-30 dollars extra every night you stay on top of room rate and tax

Good luck

X2. After all, it is just a hotel for 2-4 nights, we are not living there. Once again, Vegas has options for everyone! Let's have fun!!!

No harm, no foul Paul...I fact the first round of cocktails is on me! BTW When I see ya, I have a hilarious Mandarin Oriental Hotel story for ya reguarding a smuggled in Chihuahua dog, and a box of complimentary chocolates! Also at the expense of me possibly sounding "pompous"...Circus Circus is a dump!
