Icon10 AT&T, Apple, Google to work on 'ROBOCALL' crackdown!

Finally! The Robocall are going to Stop!

More than 30 major technology and communication companies said on Friday they are joining the U.S. government to crack down on "robocalls," automated, prerecorded phone calls that regulators have labeled a "scourge."

Great! I try and block some of the worst offenders on my home phone, but they use new numbers all the time!

Yup! I recently went onto my Time Warner account and blocked ALL incoming calls. Then I add the 20 or so phone numbers of people I will accept calls on my home/land line and have Not had 1 robo call since then! So peaceful and quite in the evenings without the phone ringing.

I don't get that many calls on my phone anyway, but I have strategy that seems to work well for me.

If I don't recognize the caller's number or if it isn't on my contact list, I don't answer the call.

If the caller doesn't leave a message, I don't return the call.

No spam calls would be best, but until they can work out a plan, my plan suffices and I don't prevent any legitimate caller from contacting me.

The VA calls me pretty frequently and their numbers are usually listed as restricted, so I have to answer those.

If I can't answer, though, they usually leave a message. Even their robo-callers leave a message.

To get around it a I'll answer and immediately hang up without saying anything. This keeps the phone from ringing for so long.

This truly is the only process that works now and likely anytime into the foreseeable future. An app that relies on selective blocking will never stop the calls.

But how will you know about your 93 million sweepstake winnings, or fix your Microsoft bugs if the calls are blocked?
