Movie with a tWISt
Over the weekend I watched an obscure 1960s Italian-made movie on Apple TV called Grand Slam (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062636). It’s about a diamond heist in Rio de Janeiro, and stars Edward G. Robinson, Klaus Kinski and Janet Leigh.
Anyway, I noticed that most of the main characters were all wearing the same red-bezel dive watch, but I couldn’t get a good enough close up to see what it was. During the robbery, however, I noticed a flashing neon sign on the roof of the building they were breaking into that said Philip Watch, and thought...hmm, product placement. So I checked that out on Google, and all was revealed… *Watch pics taken from the internet, of course. Screen caps are mine. |

Some good background info on the company here, with an interesting connection to Patek Philippe: http://thewatchspotblog.com/?tag=philip-watch

Good read Adam, I do believe Jenny also had/has a DOXA connection, yes? The logo on the back of my DOXA 1200 is the same as shown in the article.

I don't know Tim, to be honest. I've always liked the look of those colourful 60s divers such as the Jenny, though. Might have to get me a Philip Watch now

Adam, a quick search shows that Jenny now owns DOXA, explains the similarities. My DOXA 1200 Professional.
