You really don't have to venture into DC. There are many nice quaint restaurants in old town Alexandria. Do a Google search.

If you want a great DC atmosphere and all around good food + city experience, look no further than Le Diplomate on 14th Street. You will need to make reservations well ahead of time. Not too fancy, but on the upper end. You might catch a VP or politican in the crowd, 14th street is fun to visit with all the design stores and restaurants. Enjoy! http://lediplomatedc.com/

you are assuming they are working... Ha! It is a shame that the Metro just 20 years ago was almost perfect and now... it is in disrepair to put it kindly.

I second del Frisco's also. Get a table upstairs, kind of a busy place though.

I liked the steak and we also had a huge seafood plate of some sort.
