I think $80-$85K for a new GTR is in the ballpark. With taxes, title, etc. it would be less than $95K out the door and that's in the general ballpark.

Why that one has been sitting while the dealership has sold others; that worries me. Perhaps a non-standard black/red or black/blue interior? Some sort of repaired damage? 0 mile but previously titled car? Make sure you understand; and if the dealer really has sold that many GTR's other than this (might be hype).

Good luck!

As some have already said...make sure it wasn't damaged in transit or on the lot.

I still remember the crazy old days that you buy a brand new GTR and drive it for half year and sell it for a profit.

If this unit has been on the lot for 700 days, the dealer probably owns it. Most floor plan lenders will not go over 18 months.

This was my thought as well, didn't know anything about the financing restrictions on timing but just figured they weren't dealing on the car because they didn't have to.

Also just cause the new GTR is coming out in 2018 no one knows yet if it's going to be better...

They paid more they 85k for the car when they got it. At this point they would rather sit and wait for someone to trade something in thats how they will see a profit. Trust me when you offered the 85k if they could do it they would have got your number and called you 20 times already ....keep lookin you can find a used black series GTR for that price. Get a used 2015 or 2016. Have you driven one ?.

I just looked this car up on Manheim for you. Manheim as you may know is the pricing market place for USED cars that dealers use in pricing and auctions. It does not have new cars however, you can get a sense for how much this car will be worth once you drive it off the lot. And prices are real time so they take into consideration the entire environment, including the fact that a new body style may come out next year.

2016 Nissan GT-R 2D Coupe Premium with 3,000 miles would go for $77,993 in auction (which is the same price a dealer will give you if you traded it in). And they list retail price (obviously the price the dealer would sell it back to you) at $96,000. Again this is for a car with 3k miles. So I would say, $85k is a decent price. I hope that helps.

I agree with Danny. Invoice has to be around 12% or so off, plus some MFG incentives on top.

thanks, Danny. Yes, I have driven both on and off the track. the main concern with used GTR is how the previous owner treats it, how many launch controls used, etc. an used GTR may have very few miles, but depending on how it was driven, the transmission and clutches might be in bad shape. and they are not cheap to replace.

meh. there are good aftermarket trans repair specialists that can fix for a couple K. Had a 2010 GT-R for 5 years. Took it from stock to 1500 hp. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a stock 13+ at a good price.

Absolute BS.
Remind him that it's not an Altima you're buying and that you're not wasting your time negotiating on site if you're not even on the same page. Luxury dealers will sell you much more expensive vehicles over the phone, wire the money and do the paperwork at delivery at your home.
Give them one more chance than keep looking.

Tell them to pound sand then. That car will rot on the lot or they will take it to auction for a heck of a lot lower sale price than $85k.

You won't get that one for $85K - had they been willing to sell at that price it'd be gone already IMHO.

This

Other suggesting to start even lower and work up is not a strategy. Go in with what you're willing to pay. The car is already heavily discounted. Getting a couple grand more is doable but another $7k is highly unlikely

that would be rich.

Reminds me of when a salesman told me "nobody wants to sell an s5"

This was 2011 and they were pretty hot back then but I still burst out laughing and said "no kidding? I thought maybe you were a car salesman! I must be confused."

When it comes to cars -- my .02 is set your price point -- and be prepared to walk if 'they' can't get there (within reason of the vehicle you're looking at)

I've found, in my personal experiences that 'they' (dealerships) tend to not turn down a fair offer that's on the table...

I would go after the 2017s. I swung by the same dealership two weeks ago to look at the same car, did not appear they were in a rush to sell. I'm surprised that even the red GT-R has not moved.
