New Member & New Rolex Owner
Hi from Glasgow Scotland.
Apologies for the long first post. I've just recently purchased my first Rolex a few weeks ago after lusting over one for years. I have owned a few Christopher Ward, Hamilton, Orient etc watches in the past but never had the money or the guts to take the leap up in price. I had seen an article on Hodinkee around 8 years ago (A week on the wrist) featuring a Datejust 36 with oyster bracelet, fluted bezel and silver baton dial. I know a lot of people prefer the jubilee bracelet but at the time of reading the article I had no real knowledge of Rolex, so this setup had become cemented in my mind as the "classic" configuration. When contacting the AD I had informed them of my interest in the above configuration, to my surprise a few weeks later they had offered me the exact watch but in a blue dial, I travelled in within the hour and made the purchase. I don't know if I'm convincing myself (for obvious reasons) but I genuinely prefer the blue dial over the silver now that I have seen it in person. I have worn the watch every day since purchase, it's still in immaculate condition so I don't think I can truly relax around it until I have at least one scratch applied. |

Greetings Stephen, and welcome to the forum.
One thing that personally annoys me is when the hands match the dial, making reading at a glance difficult. Silver hands against silver dial, gold hands against champagne dial, etc. Seems to be a common Rolex thing. The blue dial you have is an excellent choice. Now to just get that first scratch over with . . .

Great purchase! I often flip back and forth between if I want a silver or blue dial DJ.

Beautiful blue dial on that. Can’t go wrong with that color combo.
