Help w/ Rolex Gold Buckle
Hi all,
I recently came into possession of watch strap with a gold Rolex buckle. After looking at the stamping I became a bit curious of its origin/authenticity. Looking for any help for those who are more knowledgeable in this area than me. :) Thanks |

My opinion is that it is an aftermarket item, probably gold plated, possibly from India, and of the type available from various dealers for around $15-20.

I worked at a Rolex shop in the early 1980s. We sold gold plated tang buckles that accompanied the gold shell models. They looked very similar to yours, that said I can't say if yours is authentic.

Normaly there is written "plaque" somewhere...
I know there are different styles of clasps but this one I havend seen before... Furthermore the springbar isnt a Rolex springbar and the clasp is looking a bit too new to my... I dont think it´s a genuine vintage clasp! for comparison an original clasp: |

Aftermarket IMO as well. Its missing marks on the underside even if plated.

I spent quite a long time searching for a plaque buckle for my 18038 (to no avail). I looked at hundreds of pictures but never really found a reliable source for proper hallmark verification. Based on what I think are authentic marks, I’d pass on this one. The rivet in the middle is a big red flag.

Agree. Just Google some authentic buckle images and see the difference. There are various markings on a genuine one that aren't seen here.
