Watches and Wonders 2022 predictions

What are everyone's W&W predictions for this year?

With so many Patek references being discontinued recently, it's hard to guess what will be introduced. However, I do think we'll see something Aquanaut related with this year being the 25th anniversary.

Left field, but I'm hoping to see the 5205 in a P metal with a salmon dial.

...

I expect a replacement 5196 with the new larger manual wind movement. If they do this well, it would be a successful year in my books.

...

but I expect it to be piggy backing off sports models, green dials, or tiffany dials for success...

I'd like to see a replacement to the 5196 line. The 5196p was the perfect understated dress watch IMO.

I think we'll see a good balance between sports models and dress watches this year. Definitely something Aquanaut related. As long as we don't see any of those monstrous turquoise dials, it'll be a great year!

Would like to see the 5212 line grow. I reckon Patek will build up to a platinum version in the near future. Maybe a dial variation or gold case this year.

I'd like this too as I love the look of the understated look of 5196, my concern is that it would be priced comparable to the 6119, which is a bridge too far for me. $30K for an entry level piece is most likely a deal breaker for me considering the alternatives (ALS, Vacheron, FPJ, etc.)

I doubt it...^^^.....

They will save the best for last.......

Hopefully we will see something regarding Aquanaut 25 years anniversary during the summer or fall.......

The 6119 is the 5196 replacement? Manual wind time only Calatrava just bigger to suit “current” trends

I would like to see a automatic time only calatrava, preferably with an enamel dial like a 2526

5167 A/R go away, replaced by 5168 A/R. At the same time, 5169 A introduced in the new (ish) 38mm case. Perhaps first full PM bracelet since discontinuation off 5065J?

I assumed that the 6119 was the successor to the 5119, and the 5196 was the latest in the model 96 lineage.

not a fan of the hobnail, think its tough to pull off today and pigeon holes the watch into a very classical and narrow dress watch.

would love to see a return of the officer-style watches with the breguet numerals.

Are we certain that the 5196 has been discontinued? It still appears on the website.

It is discontinued but I’m hoping on a 38mm automatic version, you never know

I guess your right, never thought the obvious connection, doh. I just supposed there wasn’t enough room in the catalogue to have 2 sets of manual calatrava. The 6119 hobnail is far less obtrusive than the 5119 though.

Maybe the expansion of steel starter watches will spread to a 6196 breguet Numeral offering probably a hope too far though

I tried to order a 5196P a year ago and already been told that PP does not take any order at that time. Not sure why it takes so long to become official.

My guess is the models that still show stock somewhere in the world are on the website still, the ones that have all been sold are removed

6711, same case dimensions as the 5711, updated movement, maybe a new middle of the road dial colour? Light grey maybe?
Bracelet with screw and quick adjustment for warm/cold days :)

I'd love if they didn't launch a 5711 successor immediately. Why not take a break and launch the next basic Nautilus for the 50y anniversary in 2026 just like 5711 marked the 30y anniversary? But in reality, we will probably see a successor this year.

With that waitlist, Patek will have to change its slogan... "You never actually own a Patek Philippe. You merely place your order for the next generation."

a 38mm manual wind 6196 with breguet numerals and a slightly better placed sub-seconds dial and a display back case would be my dream.

Also, if they offered a steel version priced of that in the high teens/low twenties that would push it to the top of the list of potential dress watch candidates.

This! To be honest, i dont think there will be a new replacement this year nor the following year.

Just a guess - a WG 3-hander blue Nautilus in a slightly redesigned case and clasp.

Let’s be honest: keep it at 40mm and that sounds marvellous.

I think the successor could also do with the updated nautilus clasp, and a different dial colour. Maybe a black dial, similar to the 3800 model.

As a general trend, also wonder if we'll see more lines coming in two sizes (but otherwise identical)?

I would love it at 40mm due to my small wrist size but I reckon the new Nautilus will be 41mm. Let's see...
