I was offered 220 € for mine as partial trade (5990/1A) today while visiting a grey.

5711/1R seems to be a different story, i would not be surprised if unworn pieces reaches 500 000 € by february and probably higher in the long term depending on what future Stern holds for the potential replacement and its siblings in steel of various combinations. Judging upon rumours as of today there are 4 main topics:

1. 5711 is gone forever
2. 5711 is gone forever and within 3-4 years replaced with an updated case (41mm)
3. 5711 is gone to be replaced 2022 with an updated case (41mm)
4. 5711 is gone forever and a jubileum model in PM (rose gold with perhaps a striking navy blue dial) will be launched, similar to the 5711/1A-014, throughout 2022/2023.

Likely, i think it will be gone for a couple of years and then re-introduced with an updated case size. I really doubt they will make a jubileum model for the 1R considered all the hammering after launching the 170 tiffany piece.

I want them to come back down to list price so i can buy another!

They'll probably keep rising though now.
You got £172k for a used 5990? Wow. What year was it?

Exactly you have locked in a price that was unthinkable a year ago so be very satisfied. I've started thinking too.

That price was unthinkable around a week ago! The price has gone up over £100k since the run out list was confirmed

There is so much more i can do with the money for what is essentially a £40k watch. It got to the point where i couldn't wear it freely without worrying so the enjoyment wasn't there.
Anyway, i'm hedging my bets and holding on to the 5164a which was always my favourite.

Sorry, meant last year. I know this was the case for the RG but wasn't sure about the others.

Why do we want this stuff to go to the moon, anyway?

It's not actually healthy for the watch industry for bubbles (localized or global) to form.

The watch will be announced in April (and is totally unexpected so only insiders know)...

so I am confused 5711 is gone from the website but 5270P is still on the website. Is the 5270P not discontinued ? My AD just said 5270-1R is also gone - is that true ?

My AD's view is that some 5270P remain unsold and they will now be circulated to the other AD. That's how my wife got the discontinued 7018 MOP a few months after it was announced.
