My 5726/1a is probably “worth” ~$125K and I wear it all the time. I also drive my Ferraris.
As a wise person once said, “I’ve done the math, and you’re dead for a very long time.”

I’ve a 5990 and a 5711, amongst othets and for the life of me I cannot put them on my wrist any longer… these prices I see reflected on dealer sites and the such, how real are they? Who exactly buys at these prices?

i completely understand that fiat currency is increasingly unportable while being worth less and less all the time but watches as a store of value as compared to gold/silver/other pms is a new thing to me… unfathomable even, but it does make sense in some ways…

airport scanners will definately recognize gold bars and their inherent value but FOR NOW you could comfortable cross borders with a tiffany dial 5711 and no one would be none the wiser you just moved millions without notice…

But i tend to go with the flow and try to live an easy life, so easier to forget the value and enjoy the watch.

The funny thing about people not wearing and enjoying their watches, is that many of them would think nothing of buying a £150k Range Rover and driving every day, through pot holes, over curbs etc, but then they won’t wear an expensive watch for fear of scratching it or it depreciating!

I only buy stuff to enjoy, and if I can’t afford to enjoy it, then although i can technically afford it, I can’t really. I’ve got an old Aston that is my daily driver 12 months of the year, and yet I live down a single track muddy farm lane.

We’re only here once, best to enjoy it.

Amen to this. If you can't wear them, you can't enjoy them. If you can't enjoy them, sell them.
If you make $100,000 profit on a 5711, after taxes it's still $65,000. Hardly worth complaining about.

Skyrocketing costs are unfortunate but I enjoy rotating the 5711 and 5164 as my daily wears.

Pics always help the conversation :)

The Mods need to delete this picture, it's too disturbing. What kind of a person actually wears his 5711? I probably won't be able to sleep tonight with anything less than 2 Ambien.
