Omicron is also super active in Geneva these days, so a lot of people have to stay at home. (The gov is speaking about reducing the quarantine duration because there is too much impact on the economy)

What if...
What if PP would remove all the "simple" Nautilus and Aquanaut and only release/keep "grand complication" level ones so they would be "application only" (for a few years)?
This would solve most of the(ir) problems.

Remember:
- Distribution would be controlled by Geneva.
- These watches drive an enormous new crowd looking for the latest Instagram fad which PP find not interesting
- Most of the Nautilus and Aquanaut demand does not come from real PP fans.
- Some PP fans still want it and could get one.
- PP cannot deliver other models to the existing customers (no need to have bait products attracting more)
- Stern said he will never increase the global unit produced (even if he has empty space in the new building)
- The watches would still have exposure/marketing but on a very exclusive level
- This would allow to massively increase the prices (now these watches are retailed at a price way too low)
- The Nautilus and Aquanaut are no more displayed in the show cases in the salon in Geneva.
- All Stern's interviews

Real watch fans went from excited to get their watch, to impatient, to frustrated, to angry. This situation is not healthy, so hard decisions have to be made by the manufactures.

I know it is a crazy speculation... This could be one of those temporary hard decision.

The green dial and Tiffany 5711 explain the attitude of Patek in term of their sport models.

Great read on all of the discontinued pieces. Thank You for all your thoughts and comments! I'm lucky to own 2 of the pieces that were discontinued.

I am still waiting for 5711 steel to be discontinued...

I am guessing what other "special anniversary" will be released for 5711...

I guessing they may release a 5711 steel with gold dial for the celebration of the discontinuation of 5711R...then release a 5711R with blue dial for the celebration of discontinuation of 5711 steel.

Maybe PP will release a special edition for my birthday...

I just dont get it how the bloggers / instagrammers can get these news before PP releases this info themselves. Is this only speculations from fratello etc?

Is there a person high up in the PP hierachy thats leaking info to bloggers?

I dont get these rumors tbh.

You want even more crazy stuff?

I wanted to put my name for a watch that I am crazy about. I was told to forget it because it is already fully allocated...

The watch will be announced in April (and is totally unexpected so only insiders know)...

BTW, Laurent Ferrier made most of his career at Patek Philippe. So we can see the influence.

I do not have the list myself, so I can't say with absolute certainty. But I have seen the list, and know that it's dated December 20 (and was sent via email to ADs on that very same day).
I was just asked if I want one by one of my ADs, so probably not discontinued as she said it would be a 2022 allocation and delivered over the next couple months - it's a pass for me though - not a fan.

I love the speculators on Chrono24. What a joke.

The whole thing is a joke.

I saw it this morning on my AD's price list.

No one listens.

Everyone is an idiot these days. (Not here, I mean on social media and Chrono24.)

Run out means discontinuation during the current year. Why wouldn’t they be on the pricing list for the current year even if they were to be discontinued?

To my knowledge, the phase out list and the price list is always valid for the whole year.

In the past 5+ years, I've never seen Patek make multiple changes in a single calendar year.

(Only AP is idiotic like that.)

Pretty sure the run out / phase out list means they are finishing up any remaining production and ending it in this calendar year.

If it is not on that list, and its on the main price list, then it's not to be phased out this year.

That's how it always has been.

Blue 5711 was on the price list for 2021.

That's a great point. Thank you!

The Blue 5711 is one of the rare times, to my knowledge, where it wasn't on the annual runout list, but was still discontinued that year.

The strange thing about that discontinuation is that Stern announced the discontinuation himself.

Generally, all the others, are announced via the runout list.

The exception is 5711/1A which saw a special one-off price increase of 20% in mid-2018.

You're right. I stand corrected.

Thanks for reminding me!

I take back what I said above. I'm definitely mistaken, and really there's no precedent here.

Anything goes. The lists are just guidelines, but they clearly don't adhere to them.

A very trusted AD told me that the 5990/1A is NOT on the run out list for this year; they already received the run out list for 2022, and confirmed 5990/1A is not there.
