My first - Patek Philippe 6119R

I just purchased my first Patek Philippe today from a awesome AD in Boca Raton, Florida (Altier Jewelers). I have been shopping here a while and inquired about adding a PP to my Rolex collection a while ago and really wanted to start with a Calatrava 6119R as I really don't have any real formal dress watches. They had a white gold one a few months ago, but I really wanted to wait for a rose gold one.

I am thrilled with this purchase and finally join the PP Club.

Congratulations on your first Patek

Calatravas are very under-rated and yet elegant watches!

I originally wanted the white gold 6119g with black dial version as all the pics looked cool, BUT when I saw it in person (this dealer had both rose gold and white gold 6119) the rose gold 6119r was the winner for me as I found the black dial very hard to read and it was more greyish than the pics.

In other words, in MY OPINION, the pics on the 6119g look better than the actual watch in person, and the 6119r looks better in person that the pics. I am sure lots of people will feel the opposite, and there is no correct opinion, but that is why I chose the 6119r over the 6119g versions. It was rare and even stunning to see both watches side by side at the same dealer. Both were already sold but the customers did not pick them up yet. At that point, I asked to be on the waiting list for the next 6119r and luckily one appeared a few months later. I had zero hesitations when the phone call came in.

Another selling feature is the crystal back on the 6119 is stunning to view and sadly, the other Calatrava models have solid backs, so if I cm going to spend that much money on a watch, I want to see the inner workings as it really is a work of art.

great points, unfortunately I have yet to see any of the 6119s in person. indeed, in the pics the G version looks more appealing to me but who knows... I also like the R version, I would put a green alligator strap on it similar to the 5231 strap that Patekoholic has on his IG.

congrats again, looks great.

Wow. What a strap!

Is that a Patek strap? Or aftermarket?

It is an aftermarket strap from Molequin, with quick release springbars.
